I thought I read a few times on the boards that this was a possibility on the DxDP -- that you could order the M&C, mushrooms, carrots or some potato dish that AP lists as a side dish -- and it was included in the price, no extra charge. Can anyone confirm this? And was this option offered up by the server, or is it something you have to know about and ask for in order to get?

When I was there in the past you could substitute one of those sides listed at the bottom of the menu for the side that was listed on your entree (most of the restaurants do not allow this, but Artist Point and Yachtsman does). Anyway this past Dec I asked to substitute the sweet potatin gratin at the bottom of the menu for the side that came with the buffalo, like I always do. The waitress informed me at that time, that since I was on the DxDDP, I got to choose an extra side and since I didn't want the side that came with the buffalo, I could choose two sides from those listed at the bottom of the menu. I chose the sweet potato gratin and macaroni and cheese. It just so happened the tables on either side of me were also on the DxDDP and were told the same thing. One had the same waitress I did, but the other had a male waiter. When I questioned the waitress about it and told her that in the past I had been able to substitute from that list, but had never gotten an extra side, she told me that it was new and as far as she knew was only at Artist Point, not at any of the other Signatures and only if you were on the DxDDP.

I had the same thing at AP in 2010, the server actually brought it up that since we were on DxDDP we got an extra side (and that sweet potato gratin was delicious).

So, it's not something to expect and plan on, but it seems to not be a rare occurrence either so don't be surprised. And yes, typically the server will bring it up from what I've heard.

Thank you both so much for your replies. That's pretty much what I figured. It couldn't hurt to ask and I'll post our experience either way. Also considering the sheer amount of food on the DxDP, even if we're turned down, they're probably doing us a favor. :)
