We've never eaten at Artist Point and have chosen it as our last night ADR. We've heard a lot of great things about it but I wanted to ask you all your opinions. It will be my DH, DS(12), DS(11), and myself. What is your favorite meal? How do you need to dress? Give me all your tips. Thanks!:thumbsup2

I loved Artist Point when I went back in 2003.

I got the Chef's Selection and chose the Smoky Portobello Soup with roasted Shiitakes and Chive Oil, Cedar Plank Roasted Wild King Salmon with Pear and Smoked Pork Belly Hash and Pear Ginger glaze and the Coffee Two Ways: Mochaccino Bread Pudding and Vanilla Latte Creme Brulee. I just looked and they still have the same selections. It's $50 for the meal and I feel that it's a great offer!!

I still talk about that soup. Best soup I have ever had!!! Yuuummmm!

It's a beautiful relaxing setting...you will love it!

we've been dining at ap every visit since our first in 1995. never had a bad meal there!! the salmon is awesome and the berry cobbler, although not as good as it used to be, is still our favorite dessert at wdw! enjoy!!:thumbsup2

We've chosen Artist Point for our last night, too. Haven't eaten there, yet, but walked by a couple of times and loved the beautiful, peaceful, quiet atmosphere.

Dress? The gave me the signature restaurant rundown over the phone. The Dis has this, scan down to signature restaurants: http://www.wdwinfo.com/tips_for_touring/dress-code.htm

We ate there xmas night 2005 and it was wonderful! Especially nice with WL decorated for the holiday and the fireplace and tree. Loved the mussell appetizer, I had cedar-plank salmon and it was wonderful, DS(then 14) had the bison steak and loved it, can't remember what dh had except that he loved the chocolate dessert..I loved the berry cobbler also. We were dressed for the holiday with khaki pants and either xmas sweater(me) or long sleeve polo shirts(DH, DS). There were some folks in shorts, but didn't notice anything too grungy.

We're big fans of Artist Point. We eat there a couple of times a year and always have a great dining experience. Check the info that's available right here on the DIS by clicking on "Dining" in the menu-bar near the top of this page.

I absolutely agree on this review. AP is a favorite of my DW and me. I, too, usually get the Chef's selection and the Smoky Portobello soup. It is delicious! As far as dessert the berry cobbler is also excellent. The wine flights of northwest wines are also very nice. :goodvibes The service there has always been outstanding. We celebrated two BIG anniversaries at AP. IMHO, you will not be disappointed. :thumbsup2

Artist Point has remained one of the top restaurants on Disney property since they opened their doors. You are going to love it.

Favorite meal..I keep rotating, lol. But definately try the smokey portobello mushroom soup...it is one of the best soups I have ever had, ever!

I had the halibut dish there (it was a special, I believe) and it was delicioooooouuuussssss.
If you like cheese, their cheese plate is also tasty and sizeable.

Just wondering what the OP decided.

Artist Point has been a favorite of ours since they opened the doors. We take friends, family there when they come to visit. Everyone loves it.

Order whatever sounds good to you, everything is delicious..especially the smokey portobello soup.

Well darned.....we were there in April 2007 - loved it!!! But, I didn't try the smoky portabello soup....guess I'll just have to go back!!!! :cool1: I also had the cedar plank salmon and the berry cobbler - delish! Beautiful setting, excellent service.

I've eaten at Artist Point quite a few times, and it seems to have gone downhill a lot in the last few years. Initially, the food was great, service outstanding, and the atmosphere beautiful and relaxed.

Now... one out of three. The place still looks great. Food is ok, but there are far better places on property.

Service? I've had some terrible experiences here. The servers aren't knowledgeable, the cook (he didn't even rate "chef") rude and argumentative, and the management ineffective. That sort of sums it up...I can tell some restaurant nightmares stories, but in a nutshell, it wasn't a pleasant experience the last two times I've been there.

Dress up? Heck no! That was one of our complaints: after coming in from the parks sweaty and exhausted, we got reservations from the WL conceirge desk. We were told we'd have to "clean up," which we did. Completely not necessary... the restaurant was full of people in t-shirts and flip-flops. We were over-dressed in slacks and shirts with collars.

We ate there last Friday. I should have our review, with pictures, posted sometime over the coming weekend.

I'll tackle one piece of your question - Dress: For the first hour we were there, it wasn't very casual, there were no tee shirts to be seen. (Being a guy, I can't give you details of exactly what types of clothing the women were wearing, but the ones I noticed looked nice, not too casual) Three men even had sportcoats on, but no ties that I noticed. Everyone was nicely dressed, men with some type of collared shirt, either polo type or button down. Then later, after 7:00 p.m., two groups came in later, everyone wearing tee shirts, and were underdressed (when compared to the rest of the restaurant).

Check out the Dis Podcast from last week for a review on Artist's Point. You don't need an iPod, just your computer with speakers.

Eaten there once. I had the halibut it was excellent! Bit pricey for 2 people with beers entree desert and tip it was 140.00.

Artist Point has been fantastic since they opened the doors. We have taken family, friends, anyone who visits from out of town there for dinner, as well, as going too many times to count ourselves.

Everything on the menu is very good. Try the rosemary creme brulee...it is outstanding.

Coffee two ways is to die for, as is the smoky portobello soup...and I HATE mushrooms. We are planning to go there for my birthday dinner in October. YUMMY.

We ate there for the first time last year. We were on the dlx ddp and tried several new places. It was one of the best meals we've had on property! Our waiter was great. Very attentive and informative. He said people come in just to have the mushroom soup, so I ordered it. It was very good. And my filet was one of the most tender and flavorful filets I've ever had. It's now at the top of our list for our next trip. :)
