have any of you tried the Chef's Northwest Selections?
It show you have a choice of Appetizer, Entree and Dessert , 2 choices in each category, 46.00 per person?

I moved your post over to the Restaurant Board for a better response

We love AP (ok, I love AP and DH likes AP  ), This selection USED to also include a salad, which made it a very good deal. Now I think you save a bit off regular menu ordering.

I always get the same thing at AP. The smoked portabello mushroom soup, the Buffalo and the cobbler dessert thingy. LOVE LOVE LOVE the first 2popcorn:: The cobbler I can take or leave.

Jody, we're separated at birth. ;) I agree that the soup and buffalo steak
are fabulous, and the cobbler is "fairly good" but doesn't knock my socks off.
The way I see it, if the original poster of the thread was going to get the
appetizer, entree and dessert choices anyway, the prix fixe set menu
saves you a few bucks vs. ordering a la carte.

I'm so glad I'll be going there for my AP "fix" in October.

I do get this. I always get the mushroom soup (SPECTACULAR), the filet mignon or salmon. The cobbler is good but I agree with the othe person--not anything special.

Wow! A couple of years ago people were raving about the cobbler at AP. I'm not usually a dessert person but thought I might "force" myself to try the cobbler on my next trip since so many have raved about it. But again, that was a few years ago. Has it changed?

DH and I did the Chef's Northwest Selections in December. I had the portabello mushroom soup-he had the salad, I had the salmon, he had the buffalo steak, I had the cobbler, he had the coffee 2 ways(or was it 3 ways???)

All food was very good!:thumbsup2 We also did the wine parings with it.

Great night, great food!:)

Yes, I remember the "raves". It hasn't changed either (except I think it is actually smaller than it was on my first trip there!!). Anyway, it's not bad but, quite honestly, it is not really my style of cobbler. I like a really moist, juicy, fruity cobbler. This is more cake, some berries on top, and some ice cream or whipped cream (can't remember). I prefer what I make at home and I'm not even that great of a cook.

I think the "coffee 3 ways dessert" was pretty good though if I remember correctly.

My husband and older son have been cobbler fans since AP first opened.

It has changed.

It is not as moist as it used to be and is much smaller now too. Originally it was served with a flavor of ice cream that the two of them always talk about when we done there...I think it was cinnamon.

It has changed more than once over the years but the last time we dined at AP, my DH thought the cobbler had moved into the realm of just so so.

All six of us did the Chef's selection in January. Four of us did the wine pairings too.

When I was there in late April, the savings for the prix fixe menu over a la carte ordering was a grand total of $2. Hardly seems worth the effort. Don't get me wrong - I really like AP, but this just struck me a somewhat pointless.

I have ordered from that menu twice (Sept 2005 and Sept 2006). Those times it included a bowl of the mushroom soup, a choice of two salads, a choice of two entrees (Salmon/Buffalo) and a choice of two desserts (Chocolate two ways and the cobbler). So, basically you received the soup and salad as your appetizers and it was a good deal then. And, we really enjoyed it all. :cloud9:

We have done it both ways and decided to not use the chef deal.
While I do get the appetizer, (mushroom soup awesome), DH gets no appetizer and we'd just prefer ordering separate. Artist Point is our favorite WDW restaurant. Our usual main dish is the Cedar Plank Salmon and the Berry Cobbler for dessert. They used to have the Berry Cobbler for two which was kind of neat, but now it's per person.

Thank you everyone who replied. I consider us still newbies
in our second year and this place looks good.
will do a review when we return in Sept. :goodvibes
