Artist Point or HDDR?

Which would you choose for your last night: Artist Point or HDDR? I have ADRs at Artist Point but I checked HDDR and there is availability. It will be myself, DH, DD11 and DD14. We have never been to AP. Last went to to HDDR in 2000 when my oldest was 3 years old and my youngest wasn't born yet!

At first I was thinking nice relaxing dinner at Artist Point, some swim time, then back to the room to pack. But now I am thinking the girls might enjoy some fun at HDDR the last night! Your thoughts??? Thanks so much! :goodvibes

While I haven't been to Artist Point, I really can't comment on it but . . . . I've been to HDDR everytime I've gone to Disney World and that is because we love it. When we first went my kids were 9 and 12, last time they were 12 and 14 and we are going again this Fall. We always go the last night and always the 9:30pm show. We want to string this out as long as we can. It is quite difficult to compare the two. One is a more subdued and quiet evening the other is loud and hilarious. I guess what I'm saying is - HDDR!!!!!

While I am sure that your children are old enough to be well behaved during a long signature dinner, and might even enjoy the food experience there, I think they would have a lot more fun going to HDDR!!

Thanks for the replies. It's funny, I asked them about it this morning and of course I got 2 different answers... DD11 says HDDR and DD14 says Artist Point! :confused3

... Which is why I come to the Dis Boards for advice! :thumbsup2

We used to love AP, but have not had a memorable meal the last two visits. We went to HDDR last February for the first time, and loved it. Food is good and show is great.

Last May, we stayed at WLV and we ate at AP one night and went to HDDR another night with our kids (then 7 & 8). They liked both but certainly HDDR held their attention more. I really think it is up to how you want to spend your last evening - a relaxing and nice dinner or a slap your thigh good time with homey food? Both are good. I will say AP was not as 'fabulous' as others made it out to be - I thought it was nice and good, but nothing spectacular. But it was nice to just be done with dinner and head back to our room in 2 minutes. At HDDR, we had a good time and the food was good (for that type of food) but the travel and waiting to and from took up some time. If that will stress you out, maybe AP is better? It all depends on what you want to do!

Love, Love, Love Artist Point. But HDDR is a must. AP we do for an quiet adult dinner. The kids will love the HDDR show. Ours ask to go every trip.

I also love Artist Point...but I think HDDR is worth doing at least once more. I loved it when I was 10, and while I haven't been back since (and don't really want to for the food), it's still a great memory (and much more memorable than any signature meal I had when I was that age). :)

HDDR this time before the youngest also gets into the teenage thing. Save Ap for a later trip.

I haven't read any of the replies, my thoughts are HDDR if you are going with kids. It's such fun.
Artist Point is really one of the finer restaurants and probably not much fun for the younger people in your group

If I were a youngster and had to chose between a high end dinner or having a blast while eating.....HDDR hands down.....we've attended the HDDR over 15 times and it just keeps getting better.....I can eat at a high end restaurant at home but can't go to anything like the HDDR....

It's all children likes food, ribs and chicken.....adults, all you can drink beer and wine....without a doubt the dinner show, HDDR...

We loved Artist Point the one time we went...and we LOVED HDDR, EVERY time we went and can't wait to go back! You can find a restaurant like AP just about anywhere. You can only find HDDR in WDW.

Enjoy whatever you choose, they are both great!

Never eaten at Artist Point, but last trip we did the HDDR for the first time ever! Kids were 16, 14, and 7. They LOVED it! (So did the grown ups for that matter!)

As far as relaxing....depends I guess on what you consider relaxing. For me, just sitting still and not running around a park for two hours is relaxing! :)

Wow - two very different dining experiences. We've been to both and have a very hard time making a comparison simply because they are so different.

I guess I'd go with HDD if (big if) you wanted to take in a very fun dinner show and weren't also expecting great food. The dining experience there is certainly an "energetic" one and you are guaranteed to come out of there singing.

OTOH, I'd go with AP if you were looking for a relaxing meal in a wonderful location and great food. Their menu is very interesting and they offer a great wine selection to pair with it.

Again, such different experiences its kind of like comparing apples to steak.
