I'm considering dinner at Artist Point for my DH and I on our June trip. We aren't doing the dining plan. My kids (14 and 10) would grab counter service and do the arcade and stuff. Do you think it's possible to walk in, or do we really need an ADR? (We're staying at the WL, if that makes a difference!) (oh, and we've eaten at AP twice and we LOVE it!!)

I think the consensus would be to make the ADR. You can always change it later (if available). Even in slow seasons, and you are going when all the kiddies are out of school, the reservations fill up. Especially if you are interested in dining within a certain time period and do not want the first or last reservation of X day, I would definitely make those reservations that are must-dos on your list.

If you know where you want to go and when, there is no downside to making an ADR.

My 2 cents....my mother is a seater at Artist Point. Even during "off season" they are full most nights. You may be able to get a walk up right at opening, but after that you will be taking a chance. I agree with what others have said. Make an ADR, and you can always cancel it later.!

I second the suggestion to go ahead and make an ADR for Artist Point. It doesn't cost anything and you can always cancel if you decide to do something else that night.
