My husband and I were going to try and get away with bringing only shorts and t-shirt attire to WDW. I just made a PS for Artist Point at WL, and they said the dress was 'smart casual.' What exactly does that mean, and does anyone ever just where clothes there that they normally wear to the parks? Would that be frowned upon?

Laura,

Smart casual - shorts and a teeshirt, probably if it says Ralph on it, would be fine! LOL

We had the price fixe 4 course meal which was wonderful. Try the salmon. Out of this world.

DH and I ate there last year in good jeans and sweat shirts and never felt out of place since most were dressed the same. Enjoy the place is wonderful:D

I was just there on 8/1/04 and we had on shorts and t-shirts. Everyone I saw was pretty much dressed the same, no one was very fancy, but everybody looked neat.

Smart casual basically means no tank tops/bathing suits/beachwear. A decent pair of shorts and a clean polo or t-shirt should be fine for guys and gals alike.

We just put on fresh shirts and slacks/jeans, and were fine! Ditto on the salmon (sister's favorite) and the buffalo was awesome..

Hi,

My husband and I ate there last weekend and I saw all kinds of attire.

While we like to dress up a little, maybe a sundress or kaiki's (sp?) and a polo.

Usually, jeans and a polo, etc. to some couples being very dressed up.

Anyway, right before we left a family was seated. They had their bathing attire on. The man had on his bathing and a tank top and the whole time he was there wore his baseball cap. The woman you could tell still had one her bathing suit with some shorts and a tee shirt on over it. You could tell she still had on here bathing suit because her tee shirt was soaked through. They also had two kids who still had one their bathing trunks.

The restaurant was packed that night, so I guess it is to the discretion of the cast members.

Disney has been known to say "no tank tops"

A shirt with a collar would be preferred over a t-shirt. A dressy t-shirt (the microfiber kind or a solid colored shirt) preferred over a screenprinted t shirt. A clean screenprinted t shirt (especially a Disney one) preferred over that ten year old David Bowie concert shirt that you wore in the park all day.

I usually pack golf shirts, mock tnecks (short sleeved) or a camp shirt or tropical shirt I can throw over a tank to eat in nicer restaurants. I wear a lot of sleeveless tanks in the heat.

Likewise with shorts - long pants or a dress/skirt would be preferred. Clean shorts of a decent length are ok and what most people are probably wearing. Cut off short shorts that leave your back end hanging out are probably not "smart casual."

As dizneykid saw, most CMs don't enforce any dress code (other than shoes and shirt) outside of V&As.
