Artist Point Confirmed to Become a Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Character Dinner

:scratchin
If Snow White and Seven Dwarfs are true - excellent character choice. I might even pay for that .............. and I don't do character meals anymore. If true I think it will be hard to get.

Yeeessss!! Snow White is my favorite princess. I'd totally go and we don't do character meals anymore either.

I have to share a story. 13 years ago my family had our forst retun trip back to WDW since my own chidren were young. We were taking my DGD to meet her "friends" and my husband was all "this is for Kady. I'm only here because Kady needs to meet Pluto...Blah blah blah...So we book lunch at CRT so Kady can dine in the Castle and be met by royalty. SHe is all gussied up in her Cindy gown, her little blinking white sneakers and hair all down up at teh barber shop. Her Pa carried her little self because God forbid her feet touch solid ground, and the entire crew begins to meet Princesses. OMG, it's Snow! My poor Paul Bunyan of a husband is suddenly shell shocked. Snow is on her way to him!!! Buddy is nothing if not a gentleman so he stands for her when she approaches the table, and tell her he has been reading about her all of his life!!! The rest of us are dying! She planted her signature kiss on his cheek, and she was star struck!

If this meal is open when we are there in december, I don't care what I need to drop....we are in and I am bring a photo of those two with me! LOL!

BOG has never been sold as a character meal, and Belle has never been at BOG save maybe once or twice very early on.

The logistics and P&L of having all 7 dwaves seems unlikely. That is expensive staffing when you need more than one set of every character group in every shift. (Breaks. Union requirements.)

I know. But would that not be awesome? I would make my fam drop Kona, which they love for the sushi, tell them I would order it from Stop and Shop, and then drag their sorry whining carcasses on the boat over for dinner. And then order them to march all of us over for our family photo. Smile. LOL!

I agree. There's no chance they have all 7. They'll have Snow White of course, but then maybe Dopey, Prince and Evil Queen? Which I'd still do in a heartbeat. But I'm sure it will be 4-5 characters total, tops.

This will be wildly popular!
It will probably cost 7 TS credits per person on the Ddp.
And still it will be the hardest ADR to get.

That said, I love this idea. I could see it like a photo op at the end like BOG.

I hope this turns out to be true.

I’m pretty sure I read that article last night and the author got his “rumoured info” from this board. All of us here speculating on what was to come of the restaurant was the inspiration to the “rumour”. So I’m not sure how much stock I’d put into this.

Yeah. Even on 2TS credits, the math doesn't work for 8. Even CRT cuts off at 5. While the Dwarves staff more easily than a face character, it is still a LOT of staff to have backstage at a meal. I'd guess the Evil Queen is not terrible to staff because you can staff with a slightly older woman, and the makeup and headpiece go far for that one. Princes seem not all too hard to staff, to be honest; Kristoff and Flynn are probably the most physically distinct of that group.

I could see Snow, Prince, Queen and a Dwarf as likely, though.

Here's how I feel. I have eaten at Artist Point twice. Both meals were capable and professional, however, in terms of what I feel a signature restaurant should be and in particular, a 2 credit restaurant at a deluxe resort, I feel Artist Point to be a disappointment and severely lacking in those special, magical qualities that are otherwise present at the other deluxe resorts' signatures and at most (though not all) of the 2 credit eateries in general.

I don't know why this is, exactly. But it is what it is and something is simply lacking. I don't think there should simply be a signature 2 credit place there for the sake of it if it doesn't deliver. Look at the Beach Club Resort, they are a deluxe resort but they don't bother having a signature restaurant and instead simply have the character dining one and the small eatery at Beaches and Cream precisely, probably for the same reason that the Wilderness shouldn't have one - there are simply too many and very popular signatures really close by and these great choices in such close proximity simply make it impossible for all these places to thrive without one of them getting squeezed out and suffering. And that is exactly what Artist Point has been doing for years, suffering and floundering with half empty or worse attendance for years. With the monorail resorts and Magic Kingdom offering better, one way or another, quality or theming, it just can't compete.

So, honestly, something drastic has to be done, and I can't blame Disney for doing it, though I respect those who will miss it as it is a respectable establishment with fine food, and I understand concerns about how character dining seems to bring lower quality food. But again, there are SO many choices close by for the kind of quality a guest might crave, it is hard to really see too many people missing Artist Point if it goes.

We dined at both WCC and Artist Point this week. WCC def needs a makeover with the color palette. I don’t love the “shtick”, but I know others do.

Artist Point seems to be on its last legs. We ate at Narcoossees earlier in the trip and the service and food there was notably better. Service at AP was slow (and not a nice pacing) due to the fact our waiter seemed to be doing everything. There was no secondary staff to fill water glasses, clear plates, run food, etc. I even saw our waiter setting other tables. It just seemed odd for a signature. I don’t know if it’s a budget/management issue, but it really cheapened our experience.

I would be sad to lose Artist Point, but it doesn’t seem to be in its heyday.

We were there a year ago, and it was great. We were disappointed with Narcoossees. I think a lot depends on the day. I'd hate to see characters at Artist's Point for dinner, its always been one of our favorite signatures for a quiet meal - and every resort needs a place to have a quiet (or at least quieter) meal. WL is far enough away from everything else that it isn't always convenient to leave the resort.

BOG didn't used to be. They have Belle and the Beast at dinner.

That dinner was odd man out ... never really considered a character meal ... and they have fixed it. They do not have Belle, only been the Beast ... so just one character you have to go meet - he doesn’t come to table.

My mistake. I thought I had seen a video or Belle and Beast walking through the restaurant at dinner time. I knew they didn't visit tables, it was just a photo op. Still, though...I consider that a character meal. There is a character there.

If it were a table service with a photo op like BoG I would love it! A character buffet I would completely avoid. Hoping they keep it classy.

Well, if we're going to start "character in the woods" rumors... I'm going to start a "Forest of Endor!" rumor. Your meal at Wilderness Lodge will feature Ewoks singing YUB YUB and posing for pictures!

On your way out, you can pose for pix with C3-PO in his throne as the god of the Ewoks.

The cost will be $60 for children, $80 for adults. You will receive 3 reheated toaster waffles, some applesauce, and a Mickey straw.
