We returned from the World this past Monday from a week's stay and ate here Sat 08/27. It was not originally on our plan as we had eaten here on our first trip a couple years ago (really enjoyed it then, too!) and I was on a mission to try ALL new restaurants. We had had a challenging day, though, due to thundershowers delaying boat transportation and cancelling some of our planned activities that when we did return to our resort (WL) the weather was still unsettled and I didn't want to take a chance on getting stranded trying to get over to the Wave at CR. We settled on Artist Point, right at the Lodge.
This would be my kids first Signature restaurant and both loved it.
My DD had the signature salmon. As salmon is one of her favorite proteins, she really adored this. She also loves a good tomato mozzarella salad and the heirloom tomato w mozzarella foam appetizer was a delicious, unique spin on a favorite for her.
DS, who normally won't eat much beef at home, got the fillet and there was none left (to the disappointment of my husband who was hoping to make a surf and turf out of his scallops dish! (which he enjoyed). Keith, our waiter (great guy), made it a point to tell DS before ordering that if he didn't see anything on the menu he liked, let him know what he wanted and they would try to accomodate. DS did switch the accompanying potatoes to fries. Also, a mushroom freak, got the signature mushroom soup as an appetizer and still raves about it (privately told me it was better than his Dad's!).
I got the shrimp hot pot was glad I did. The novelty of the dish and spicy kick to it made it a great choice for me. Keith was sure to check upon my tasting that I was ok with the "heat" of the dish. The recommended spirit to accompany this was a saki, my first time ordering it, and it did go really well with the entree.
Desserts were gobbled up, too. I got the panna cotta which was the favorite dessert of the trip for me. The consistancy of it was smooth, creamty and firm but not gelatenous like in can sometimes be. DD had the fruit cobbler, husband had the no sugar fruit mousse and DS had the chocolate indulgence. Yep- all gone!
So although I was disappointed in missing the Wave (and I actually had to cancel another ADR as this is a 2TS credit restaurant. We were on the
DDP plan), it ended up being the favorite meal for me, my DD and second best for DS.
Definately would recommend!
