We're breaking down and buying a new artificial tree after three years of piecing the old one together with duct tape and wire. Anyone notice any good to great deals on trees anywhere? 50% off at the local craft stores (Joann's, Michael's, Hobby Lobby) is the best I've seen but still out of our price range! I don't mind spending a bit more for quality, but a bargain would be nice. Thanks!

Target and Walmart have some in their Black Friday ads. I like the trees at Home Depot but I don't know if they ever go on sale.

All I can think of would be those 40% off coupons at Joanns & Michaels like you said.

Last time I was shopping for one, the Michaels coupons did not apply to the bigger trees.

My parent's bought a replacement one last year on Black Friday at Lowe's. We go out at about 10-11 a.m. on Black Friday and just go to a few stores and the crowds are usually gone. We went to Lowe's and they got a tree that was regularly $250 for $150. I don't know if this is any better than their usual sales. I purchased discount Lowe's gift cards (www.plasticjungle.com) and a 10% off coupon for Lowe's from Ebay as I plan to get one on BF this year for my house :).

Check out the Lowe's and Home Depot black Friday ads. They usually have the best deals.

About 2 days before christmas eve my local Kmart (when they carried the Martha Stewart line of xmas stuff) had all their artificial trees on sale. We fell in love with one but they did not have any left in boxes. They only had the display tree. We asked if we could take that one, the manager came and said sure so we start taking all the decorations off of it to just take the bare tree and the manager looks at us like we're nuts. He tells us that he meant we could take everything, tree and decorations. ;)

We ended up paying $60 for a fully decorated, prelit 7 foot tree. Once we got home we pulled off all the decorations and ended up with close to $75 worth of decorations. Deal of a lifetime! Sometimes it pays to wait until the last minute.

Not sure what you want to spend, but Wal Mart has some nice trees for much less than the hobby stores. We've been using a WM tree we got on a BF sale for the last 6 years and it still looks good. I wouldn't get the pre-lighted ones though; the lights don't last long and then you're stuck with a tree with dead lights all over it, or at least that was our experience. I ended up cutting all the light strings off of it and just buying new lights.

Our tree is in similar condition as yours. I have looked at AC Moore, Michaels, Target, Walmart, Kmart, Boscovs, Lowes and Home Depot. The only place that had trees that didn't look completely fake were Lowes. Theirs were nice but pretty pricey for what they were. Plus I want an unlit tree (I like colored lights and prefer to string my own) and their unlit ones weren't quite what I wanted.

I had gotten my current one about 12 years ago at a specialty shop that is now out of business. It was about $350 back then but is absolutely gorgeous and realistic looking. I am driving about 50 miles this weekend to a specialty shop to see if they have anything nicer. I would rather pay the extra $100-$200 and get a great tree that will last rather than the junk at the big box stores!

I got my current tree on Black Friday from JC Penney's. It's been a couple of years, but I think I only paid about half of the full price. Check the BF ads. From what I remember, it's been a few days since I looked at the ad scans, I think most of the stores had them on sale.
