Article: Is Disney Dissing the Disabled?

I already have my plan in place as I'm local and go to the park every sat or sun for a couple hours with YDD, I'll be over there on Wednesday to discuss with GR how this all works and get a tutorial of sorts so I can work to prep her for Sat. I have FP+, I have a stack of expired room keys that pull paper FP and if she is determined to go to HS (a park where she does loop TOT and RNRC) then I think I have a touring plan that will allow for her to ride multiple times w/o using the DAS if the return times are not compatible.

If it is true that they could accommodate her need to loop those 2 rides then we should hopefully be golden until they pull out the paper FP machines. It will require a TON of work and time on my end but as long as this is the system then this is what we have to work with.

:scared1: Seriously? I feel so bad that it's going to take you that much more work to cheat the system now. :sad2:

I do not understand how the pro GAC people do not understand our position. It's because of this quote right here. Come on people, use your brains. This is ridiculous.

I saw one person wrote this is perfectly acceptable. Yes, I have read that Disney is aware that people with FP+ are able to pull paper FP with their KTTW cards. However, they haven't said "Hey everyone pull your old scrapbook KTWW cards and use them to get FP's too" Or use your friends to get more! It's all legit, it's all good.

This is blatant, out and out cheating and I can't believe that the people who are so ripped that the system is changing bc of things like this very quote are defending these actions. If everyone decided to jump off the peak of EE, should we all do it too? Just bc some people are doing it doesn't make it okay to do.

Jeesh people. Really?

No, I posted early on that when we had to leave the parks, it was nice to have the GAC because when we returned we could go to the FP line which, by the way, is not instant access.
FOTL is at Universal and yes, we stay onsite there to get that perk.

OMG, really? You can do that now with the DAS, FP, and FP+. So what is your beef with them changing the system then? I am not following your logic here.

I just did complain, and I will continue to do so.

Your kid may be special needs, but she isn't special.

Don't you think your child is special? I thought all parents did.

Wow, with the Unicorn Snowflake comments. It's really nice to call disabled children names.

Disney is for everyone, not just children. So I let her cut in front of paying adults too. Don't forget that part. And yep, Disney allows her to do that so complain to the man in charge. I don't think they are going to care how mad it makes you.

:thumbsup2 I am glad that you don't discriminate in your cheating. Everyone is fair game then.

Disney is for everyone...not just special needs.

She's special to us - I don't expect anyone else to see her as special. As I said earlier, my kids are the center of my universe, but not the center of the universe.

And guess what? Neither is yours.

I completely disagree with abuse of the system and riding over and over while others have not ridden once. But I have a question for everyone and please no bashing or negativity. If there is a ride with say 12 cars and only one car can accommodate a wheelchair/scooter, should the person in a wheelchair have to wait in a regular queue? Essentially if we really wanted it to be equally fair every car needs to be able to accommodate a wheelchair then no matter when it was this persons turn the availability is there. I hope this make sense and you get what my point is. I just feel until all playing fields are completely equal then it will not be fixed. As for someone who can not wait in line I completely understand but doesn't the FP fix that situation? Again please no responses that are going to bash or be mean.

It would be impossible to predict the ability to return to the parks for a set time. Now, it doesn't seem like this will be a problem. :goodvibes

I don't know. I don't give out FOTL passes and you don't get more than one ride if there is a wait.

Wow that sounds incredibly inappropriate. It sounded better in my head.:rotfl2:

:lmao:Well you just made it even more official in my eyes!

Yep - you can go right on scamming and screwing up everyone else's experience.

Congrats to you - you must be so proud!

No my child is not special. She is a person like billions of others on this planet. She is mine and I love her but so far she isn't an genius, a world class athlete etc. Would I change her? No because she is fine the way she is with flaws and faults just like everyone else. Special ceases to be special if everyone is special.

I thought the same thing on another forum and was corrected on this matter. It is a name that can be applied to anyone. Snowflake refers to how snowflakes are unique, individual, and have their own pattern...as do all people. Disabled or not.

Not too mention someone just called their own kid a Unicorn Snowflake.

Hate to tell you but if you stay onsite at Universal, you can ride as many times as you like.

If feasible, I think every vehicle should be wheelchair accessible, since people in wheelchairs will in most cases have to wait in the regular line. If it isn't feasible, they need to have more than they do now to make it more equal for those folks.

Sadly, it's become acceptable, it seems, to bash kids with autism and call them names and blame the parents for their disabilities.

With what other disability is this acceptable behavior?

I don't know of any here on the DIS. This forum appealed to me because people seemed compassionate.

Who has bashed kids with autism?

Who has blamed their parents for their disabilities?

I don't blame parents for their disability, I blame parents (and not just parents of autistic children) for abusing an accommodation so much that Disney had to change it. I do blame many of the parents of autistic children for throwing such a hissy fit because they were going to lose their privileged status that it seems that Disney will now back down, and allow the continued abuses of the GAC while simply calling it something else.

Hey gang, once we've solved this do you think we could move to something less important say like world hunger or North Korea or maybe the Mid-East. Seems to me those will be easy to handle compared to this.

And still no one has chimed in on how their child functions in the real world not Disney world. If your child can't wait in any line for more than 5 seconds then how are you able to leave your house? If you can't loop the Starbucks 8 times in a row to get them their drink what happens? Please someone answer this I really want to know?
