Smooth sailing on Disney cruise lines

Disney always has been a quick study. So when it started its own cruise line in 1998, it smoothed the bumps pretty quickly. And there were bumps. I sailed the Magic early in its inaugural season in '98, and glitches, though minor, were many. But when I cruised on the new Wonder a year later, the line was running its second ship smoothly and seamlessly. The line has a lot going for it: two elegantly appointed ships chock-full of Disneyana, good (if not great) food, terrific on-board atmosphere, a solid kids' program and a superb private island.
Disney's ships sail three- and four-night cruises to the Bahamas from Port Canaveral. The line also offers seven-night Western Caribbean cruises.
Rates have been discounted for April and May. Three-night cruises start at $419 for adults and $199 for children, double occupancy. Four-night cruises start at $519 and $299, and seven-night sailings at $799 and $399. The offer is good for stateroom categories 11 and 12, and children must sail with two adults in the same stateroom. For more information, call a travel agent or the cruise line (1-800-432-8922), and mention booking code STM.
