We're going to Disneyland next April, and planning to visit Knotts on one day. We want to ride the ART to Knotts, but I seam to remember that their busses stop service for a few hours on that route during mid-day. Maybe no service from noon to 4? I can't find the info on the ART web site, so I was wondering if anyone has any experience on this route?

We tried this in Aug 2012 to get home from Knotts and it was a disaster. We took the grayline bus to Knotts and just couldn't find enough to do until 5pm when the grayline bus was supposed to return. We could never find the actual bus stop for Rt 18 (employees at Knotts were not helpful or knowledgeable on the bus routes). Finally a bus driver picked us up and just took us back to Disneyland. If I ever did this again, I'd just pay the $$ and take a taxi.

We had a similar experience in April - waited and waited and waited in the morning for an ART bus that never came - and on the return trip couldn't even find the ART stop - ended up catching a taxi both ways about $25 each way for 3 of us

We used this round trip in August and thought it was simple. When getting off the bus we just asked the driver where to get the return bus. At least then the full schedule was available on the art website. Maybe due to long lines and taking in some shows we were not ready to leave until the afternoon bus resumed. We had planned to get that first bus to go back, eat an early dinner and do laundry,.swim etc. The return bus showed up at the spot the driver said at the time the schedule said.

You can also take the Los Angeles MTA route 460 bus. It runs every half hour and takes about 30 minutes from Disneyland to Knotts.

It takes 40-50 minutes to get from Harbor to the Buena Park Mall stop and about 35-40 going back. It can be longer depending on the time of day. Try using Google maps public transportation search option to see the schedule.

This is what my comment was going to be. This is extremely useful in the Anaheim area and will help a lot. It will search all of the available public transit options.

Bottom line is the only ART line that we have ever had good experience with is the one to and from the Toy Story lot and that's probably because Disney controls it very tightly.

I thought that Disney contracted with the OCTA to run the Toy Story parking lot shuttle. I remember reading a Disney press release saying they were using furloughed OCTA bus drivers to drive the shuttles. Does ART run this service now?

Um, no.

It takes 20-30 mins each way. It's a $1.50 each way.

OP, take the 460. It's cheaper, faster, and runs more frequent than ART.

The truth is here. [Sorry to say, but Google should not be relied upon for accurate, up-to-date public transit informaiton].

No, they have always contacted with ART. From what i understand Disney wanted to run their own or contract with Coach USA, as they were doing with the Pumbaa lot, but there is a law in Anaheim that states that all new shuttle contacts within the city must use ART. You will notice that any new hotels that open in Anaheim will not have their own shuttle, they will use ART. They may contract with ART to provide a free shuttle, but they won't be running their own.

The hotels that already had their own service are grandfathered in. Those that had contracts with other companies are allowed to finish off the contracts, then have to switch, which is why stone of the hotels that had free shuttle service no longer do. Now of course this doesn't apply to hotels that are located outside Anaheim, so many of the hotels just over the city limits still provide free shuttles and there is apparently a loophole that the hotels that are affiliated can use these shuttles, if they are on the same loop.

That being said, ART does have a contract with OCTA for them to provide additional vehicles and staff when necessary though. So you will sometimes see OCTA vehicles and/or staff on the Toy Story route, but most of the time you will see ART drivers and busses (the ones with the Toy Story wraps)

Metro is the cheapest; however, there are times when OCTA will be faster and Google is good about speed, costs can be of, but travel times are fairly accurate

No us route takes that same amount of time all day, every day. There are times when the schedule shows 35-37 minutes. And that doesn't include time walking to and from stops. When using public transportation, being rigid about schedules and travel time is just going to lead to disappointment.

I guess I have to toot my own horn here. This page did not magically appear. I personally took every photo of each stop and other place relevant to the route. I've ridden the 460 bus on more than a few occasions.

How is "20 -30 minutes" "the same amount of time"? :confused3

You do not board/disembark the 460 bus at the Buena Park mall (from/to KBF), so the statement is simply false on two counts.

There is no direct OCTA route from DLR to KBF. Calling an ART route "OCTA" only confuses those who need help in traveling between the two parks.

I will note that the schedule on the ART site has changed. The alleged travel time between DLR and KBF is less than it was previously. Perhaps some stops are now skipped in one direction or another. I have no personal experience with ART route 18, but here is the KBF stop:

Sorry, Ive ridden the 460 many, many times to and from Disneyland to Knotts, it has NEVER taken more than 30mins each way.

460 is the best way, without a car, to get to Knott's.
