Art of Entertaining and other programs

I haven't read much on the boards about the programs on the Magic for adults such as Art of Entertaining, Behind the Scenes and Navigator Series.

As my mom loves watching Food TV, I thought she might enjoy the Art of Entertaining stuff. I'm a big Disney freak so I want to do the Behind the Scenes stuff.

Has anyone done any of these programs and if so, did you enjoy them?

I am also a food network fan and I enjoyed Art of Entertaining...plan on doing it again in October. There is a demonstration with one of the chefs cooking one course of a meal, and then they pass out a sample plus a small glass of an appropriate wine. As you drink the wine they give you a mini wine lesson. You also get a printout of the recipe. My favorite one was the mixology and napkin folding.

For the cooking shows, they bring you out a sample of what they are making, a some of the wine pairing they have chosen. Now if food network could arrange that, I'd watch more.

The behind the scenes stage tour was fun. You don't get on the stage, but they do have costumes out that some guest get to try on.

The kitchen tour was OK, but I wouldn't do it again.

The best time we've had is when they've had special guest. Two cruises ago it was an imagineer for California, talking about the making of Ca. Adventure, that was great stuff.

We've done the walking tour of the ship twice - once on the Wonder and once on the Magic. Great!

We did the talk on the threatre as well and when we did it they did let you up on stage (this was maybe 3 years ago).

We also did the galley tour which I loved. We got to see them decorating a wedding cake and got fresh baked cookies.

I think Disney does a great job of putting on these series.

The Art of Entertaining is great! Make sure you get there early, though to get a good seat. As word gets out during the week, more and more people come. The food is delicious, and the wine is very good. Go to the last session in order to get the recipe. I make a Salmon w/Mango chutney often that I tried there that takes me back on board. I thought it was well worth my time.

You don't have to sign up for the ent. series. You just show up. We did the theather behind the scenes. I did the appetizer, the fruit carving and the mixology ones.

Each class lasts around 30 minutes. I showed up around 5 - 10 minutes before it started and was always one of the first ones there. Everyone is served a sample plate of the dishes they are making that day and you can sit and pick at it while you watch the instructer show you how to prepare it. You are also given a sample of wine that you should try to save until the end because you get a mini wine tasting lesson at the end. On the last cruise we sampled the same wines we sampled during the wine tasting and had almost all the same people who instructed at the wine tasting explaining the wines at the Art of Entertaining Series. I look forward to doing the series again this year. Gotta love filet mignon, garlic mashed potatoes and wine at 10:30 in the morning!

We did the art of entertaining series on the June 26th cruise. They had a guest chef from Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge doing it that week. It was fun, and I will do it again. We missed the dessert one

I understand that for the Art of Entertaining, there is an age restriction. My son is very interested in cooking and would love to participate in the cooking demonstrations. Any chance he would be allowed?
