Just curious on a size/amenity comparison on a DVC room vs Art of animation. Is AOA comparable to a 1 br? I have a friend with excess points looking to rent, and another who is planning an August trip to the Art of Animation. As a room only reservation, the Art of Animation is less $ than a 1 br DVC resort renting points. Not to say the money isn't an issue, but the difference in $ could be worth it for them if their is reason enough for them to do it. I have never seen the AOA resort, just pictures. I have no vested interest other than helping 2 friends. Just curious what people think

Ive stayed in 1 bedrooms and art of animation. The 1 bedroom is a little bigger. I did like the fact that art of animation had two bathrooms which most 1 bedrooms dont. Also one plus in the dvc 1 bedrooms is that they have a washer, dryer and full kitchen which AOA doesnt. They only have a little kitchenet.

From what I've read:
I think AoA has 3 pullouts vs 1 or 2 for a 1BR
DVC has outside balconies
AoA has a much better foodcourt
AoA does not have a TS restaurant
AoA's pool may be as good or better than some DVC
AoA lacks the park proximity of some" DVC's
DVC resort lobby's are generally more "Deluxe"

Those family suites look like fun, and may be a great choice for someone not used to the little "extras" DVC can provide.

When the Art of Animations was about to open, we almost regretted buying our DVC until I looked into it further. Those little extras are why we like DVC. In the end we don't need the AoA rooms when DVC has what we need. We like the proximity of our home resort (BLT) and monorail, and in the end, pricewise our DVC will cheaper over the long run. If we were renting vs AOA, Renting looks to cost more, and I just wanted to have something to show my friend so she could decide it was worth it for her. Thanks for the info

I'm pretty sure I will still try AoA some time, but in the future when they may honor an AP or AAA discount. Right now AoA seems excluded from most discounts
