My family of 5, two adults and three kids (9,6,1) are booked at AoA in a Cars Family Suite this May. I just realized that I can switch to POR in a Royal room and save $440.00. What would you do? I have stayed in a family suite at AoA before so I do like that we would have more space and a second bathroom but I don't know if that is worth the difference in price. Also, my husband does not love AoA as he feels that it is way too in your face theme wise. I will also note that this is a short four night stay, not our first visit and will not be our last. Thanks!

I would stick with the AoA suite. 5 in a moderate feels pretty tight. And the second bathroom at AoA is a huge plus.

If you are looking to save money, have you checked out the All Star Music Suites? They are typically quite a bit cheaper than the AoA suites. And the theming is much less in your face.

I don’t believe the Royal rooms accommodate 5 people. You would have to stay in the Alligator Bayou section for that.

Either way, no way would I sleep with 5 in a hotel room ever.

Royal rooms don't sleep 5, but you have one infant so I guess you could cram the pack & play somewhere.

We stopped sharing a room when our kids were 9 and 7, and that was a stretch.

I'd go with a suite, and agree to look at the All Stars if you need to save money. Two rooms is iffy, since you can't guarantee connecting. The Swan and Dolphin does do that if you're interested, and they often run a deal where the second room is only $100 for the kids. I love the Swan personally, but haven't stayed there in years.

I would switch. The POR Royal Rooms are lovely (as is POR) and, with your 1-year old, this would be a good chance to stay in that room while you still can! Especially for a shorter trip, the smaller room wouldn't bother me and $440 is a nice savings over a 4 night stay!

This is where I'm torn. The rooms look so magical and I know my 6yo DD would love it! I just don't know if the smaller size would be a deal breaker with our toddler or not.

I agree... stay in that room while you can. Those years when they are little, and enthralled with the magic are short... If your 6yo will love it then do it, especially for a $440 savings. We haven't stayed in those rooms in about 5 years so I don't really remember how much 'extra' room there is for a pack n play. My DD was 5 when we stayed, and she absolutely loved the room. Also, we love the mansion pools at POR. If your husband doesn't like the 'in your face' at AofA, he may like the laid back feel at POR.

Can anyone comment if they can fit the pack and play between the bed and the window or between the beds? If yes I wouldn't have much concern on size unless I planned to be in the room a lot with all 3 kids.

Yes! It fits between the beds! We do fine staying in a mod room with all of five of us. In fact, when our little was under three, we still stayed in the values to save the cash. This trip we are having to stay in a suite because I booked last minute and that's all that is left...and I've been on constantly trying to get lucky and get a moderate. We have never felt we needed the suite at Disney. We're busy enough. Everyone is different though. Have fun!

I’d choose POR over AOA, especially for a short trip. The only caveat would be if your toddler needs to go down for the night way earlier than anyone else then you don’t have separate spaces. But we’ve stayed with five at POR multiple times from when our youngest was a toddler to last year when he was 9. Only now do I feel we’ve outgrown one room at the Moderates.

We stayed at POFQ when DS was less than 3 and I’m really glad we did while we still could. I really liked staying there and I’m a little sad we can’t go back. It was tight but we spend most of our time in the parks anyway so it wasn’t an issue.

I would choose Port Orleans royal room! They are so well done! We are a family of five and have stayed in Port Orleans French Quarter when our youngest has almost three. She was in a pack 'n play. It was fine. We have also stayed in the Alligator Bayou when she was older. She loved having her own "special" bed. The savings of $440, the beauty of the royal rooms, the ability to ride a boat to Disney Springs or Port Orleans French Quarter for beignets, and making dad happy is worth changing for!
