Art of Animation Building Distance

Sorry, but you assumed wrong about our style. We get there around 9 or 10 and always close the parks, but instead of rushing back to the room after, like we see many do, we use the leisure walk to unwind a bit from the busy park day. We started this when our DDs were young and it helped them chillout a bit before getting into our room and we have been doing it ever since. We also take our time exiting the park, why rush to stand in line for transportation.

Some would call arriving at the parks at 10am a more leisurely style of doing Disney.

Most fitness apps calculate the distance on how many steps a person is taking and the app only knows your "measured" stride
I can't speak for other watches but my apple is almost always spot on for distance at least for me. You can calibrate your watch to match your stride with distance. I will agree that there could be a variance with my calibration stride vs the actual stride I was taking that day but it's not going to be off that much.

I'm sorry but I just really don't believe it's actually .5 miles from the LM section to the main building unless you're taking some roundabout path as opposed to the efficient route straight through the center of the resort. We've stayed at AoA several times and one of the things my husband and I do almost every stay is walk from the Cars section to the Little Mermaid section just to see everything and soak in the atmosphere. We do it at a very casual pace. It rarely takes us more than about 15 minutes -- again, at a very casual pace and pausing occasionally to look at something. If LM to the the main building is .5 miles, going from Cars to LM is going to be at least .75 miles -- probably a little longer. I know what walking a 20-minute mile pace feels like for me (I do it 3 times a week on a treadmill) and there's no way I'm walking close to that pace when we're doing that walk at AoA. I think the whole resort is about .5 miles long. The pathway around the lake, according to Disney, is a 1.38 mile loop. That pathway is very curvy and not just a straight line down each side of the lake. At most, that would make the length of either resort along the lake a less than .7 miles (and that doesn't take into account the length of the short ends of the lake path). The lake is pretty much the same length as the resorts. And like I said, the path isn't a straight shot, so the length of the entire resort really can't be more than about .6 miles.
