DH and I updated our old ressies at WL (went from sunshine package to room only) and thought we were saving money w/DC, right? The flyer says save 15% on deluxe. When he called again today re something else, he double checked and she said that the rate we were quoted is the normal price and that there's no discount because we're getting luggage tags and entry into the Sports Complex???? We don't even DO sports!

He didn't argue but instead called me here at work. Have you guys gotten an actual DC DISCOUNT on your rooms???

I would call back and just make a brand new reservation without telling them you already have one and see what you get. If it's better than have them change your original one.

It seems that they still have part of a package on yours.

When I made my reservations for Fort Wilderness, I was told by the DC travel dept. that all rooms have to be sold as a 'package', which is why they throw in the All Star sports complex tickets. They called it the 'Basic Package'. We still received a discount on the campsite and I thought the tickets were a nice throw in. My boys should have fun at the NFL experience.

Hope this helps,
Mike :)

Let me see ... 15% discount on a room that is probably at least $220.....that's about $33 a night. I hope those are some really really nice luggage tags! Am I the only one that feels like **sometimes** when the WDW rep doesn't know they answer they get a little creative?

Ask for the price on the Basic Package and then divide that by the number of nights. If it's equal to the Rack Rate of the room only reservation you didn't get the discount. Hopefully it's less. You can find the rack rates at the mousesavers site

You should know that the Basic Plan package price will be a few dollars more (less than $5) than a room only reservation through Central Reservations (CRO). This is because Disney adds a few dollars to cover the cost of mailing your documents to you prior to your arrival.

You are not paying for the admission to DWWoS. This is complimentary with your Basic Plan Package. However, there may be events taking place at the Sports Complex that require additional admission.

It is possible to get discounts through the DC, but they run out sometimes. I got a fairly good discount for CBR at Thanksgiving this year. We got a king bed, water view room for $515 with tax. That works out to about $130/night with tax.

I disagree with the earlier post, based on my experiences in booking through CRO. The basic package price is higher than the room only price. With the new DC, they eliminated room only discounts and only put discounts on packages (beginning with the basic package). So it is indeed possible that you will get the 15% discount on the package only to find out that you have saved little on the room only rate. However, the package price is only about $15 per night per person higher than room only so you should still see some savings. The brochure I had handy (about a year old) showed $258 for the two adults on the 3 night basic package at AS as compared with $222 for two adults room only. If you got the 15% discount on the package you would pay $220 vs. the $222 rack rate for the room.

I booked room only thru DC for November 2002 at POR. My total for 8 nights was $948.25 including tax (my discount was 20%). I also will receive tickets to the WWSC and luggage tags.

While I can't give you exact prices (don't remember) I do know that with the old Magic Kingdom Club I saved 20% off moderate room and 10% off UMP twice. Last year with DC Isaved 20% off room and 10% off UMP. My sister in law is saving money with it this year. She spent alot of time and effort and it saved her like $300 over anyone else.

Since MKC was discontinued, I used our AAA card for our next trip next October. Got room only ressie at CSR for 145/night. Saved about $20/night.

I started gathering quotes for out April trip earlier this year, after the DC rates came out I decided to book. I was quoted by CRO $1680 and DU $1752. I booked my package last night and paid $1467 for 8 days 7 nights of Resort Magic at AMo. I booked directly through DC though, not CR. I was pleasently suprised!
