I am going to Orlando next month. I am considering not making hotel reservations in advance. Has anyone done this and gotten a great deal?

I did it last month. My reason for not making reservations was that I didn't know I was going until the last minute. I stayed on the 17th floor of the Grosvenor for $69.

Depending on time of year, I think you can get away with not making a reservation in advance if you are flexible with where you will stay. Having said that, November promises to be a VERY busy month. I would truly hesitate to leave accommodations to chance.

In checking with many of the larger suppliers hotels for families are starting to get tight for early November. If you are just looking for a room with two double beds, that should be no problem. But, if you are looking for a 2BR or 3BR resort villa close to Disney, they are starting to get booked. Just check availability at Cypress Pointe, as an example.

However, you can find something and a great deal as well if you are flexible in where you stay. Even though there are many rooms in Kissimmee and Lake Buena Vista, the best hotels are starting to get filled.

You make the call.

There are literally tens of thousands of hotel rooms in the Disney area. I don't care how busy November looks to be. You are going to be able to find a decent rate in a desirable location. Just take a ride up and down 192 and you will surely have your pick of hotels advertising vacancies and great prices on their marquees.

Hey, OrlandoPlanner,
Please post here after your trip and let us know what you decided, and how it all turned out. Thanks.

Between all the conventions in town in November and the masses of people who have booked up Disney properties to get in on the end of the Fairytale Vacation Package, I think you might be asking for some frustration if you leave it to chance. I could be wrong, but especially if you are traveling with children, you may find it a bit harder this year to find those thousands of rooms with great prices on their marquees.
