We are traveling from NC to Orlando on Amtrak. This is our 1st Disney Trip!!! Myself, my husband and 2 daughters (4 and 8). Will be staying at Hampton Inn, Lake Buena Vista. Need help on knowing how far Hotel is from Train Station and best way to get there. We do not want to rent a car. We will have Shuttle Service from Hotel to the Parks. Would like to know what is best way to get to Hotel, cab, towncar ( and who has experience with this sevice) price of each, etc... Any info would be wonderful!!! :D

Usually I take a towncar from the Orlando Amtrak station to my Disney Hotel. Coach USA runs a shuttle to the Disney Resorts but I'm uncertain if they run to non-Disney hotels. You have to book this shuttle when you book your train seats either thru the Amtrak's 800 phone number or your travel agent. You can't do this online. When you buy the tix ask about if this ride is available to your hotel.

You most probably will have to call a towncar service which will run you the same cost as traveling from the airport to your hotel...at least that was what I was quoted when I called...So, figure about $100....at that price I'd look into renting a car. The shuttles are OK...but my friend who did a hotel shuttle Summerfield Suites basically at the Crossroads said he spent too much of his vacation waiting and had wished he had rented a car instead....

we always use tiffany.

they are great and reliable...used them about five times now at least and never a problem. They will even stop at a grocery store (although that is for when you are going to the disney resorts but you can ask...).

The usa coach folks...well I have watched them at work...I would not like to have to use them if I had choices Maybe I have been there at bad times but I was amazed at what these guys did to folks luggage....in fact the rates I have heard them give people it cost them more than my town car. If you have three or four folks in the party the price is about the same and actually cheaper.

Good luck and have fun!!!!

Another vote for Tiffany. They will pick you up at the station (Kissimmee - closer to WDW than Orlando station). So great to see them standing there when you get off the train!

Have fun!

Non-Disney hotels usually have very limited service to the parks. You will end up being on their schedule instead of YOUR schedule. Many hotels tout free transport to the park but when push comes to shove the schedules s*ck. Call and get specifics. Many hotels may only have one or two shuttles in the morning and or two in the evening. If they are filled you are SOL. Seriously consider renting a compact car.

it will cost you approximately $100 roundtrip to get from train station to hotel no matter what option you use (towncar, taxi, shuttle). Compact car rentals can be had for under $200 a week and you will then save money not being required to eat at Disney all the time or room service back at the hotels. Hampton Inn hotels do not have a restaurant on premise. Also do you really want to walk to a restaurant after spending all day in the parks.

what prncess recommends makes lots of sense. thats a better approach to the whole transportation issue and she is right about the busses and with young children you may need a more flexible schedule...either coming or going...or getting dinner.
