Hi all,

We are leaving in a few days for Fort Wilderness. Flying in Thursday and staying in the cabins. Most everything is set, but I do have a few outstanding questions.

1. We've reserved a cart from Kenny at Tee Time. Charges have been applied to my credit card. Should I be concerned that he hasn't called to confirm yet?

2. We are on the Dining Plan. It was the best discount available at the time of our booking. Does the snack bar at the Meadows pool accept the dining plan for QS credit (meal not snack)? Most of the time we will be eating in the parks, so it's not a big deal, but if we happen to be back at the cabin around lunchtime, I wanted to know if I could get a QS meal there.

3. Have the flat screen TVs been deployed in all the cabins?

4. Walking path to WL. Is it open? I heard some rumor somewhere that it was closed.

5. Is there a boat launch direct to the Wilderness lodge or it is shared with CR, POLY and/or GF?

6. How are the bugs?

7. Anything I am missing?

Part of our group is driving and bringing supplies that we don't want to take on the airplane or buy while we are there (ie, breakfast items, perishables, snacks/drinks, laundry detergent, kid's toys, etc).

We'll be there for 10 days celebrating my 40th birthday!!

I'll help with the ones I can.

Hi all,

4. Walking path to WL. Is it open? I heard some rumor somewhere that it was closed. Not sure, but I'll check tomorrow.

5. Is there a boat launch direct to the Wilderness lodge or it is shared with CR, POLY and/or GF? There is a launch that goes to WL and Contemporary. Depends on the time of day which way it goes. Tonight around 8, they had 2 running. One in each direction. There is also one that goes directly to MK

6. How are the bugs? Not bad at all. Haven't seen a single yellow fly.

7. Anything I am missing? Let us know where you'll be or feel free to swing by site 103 and say hi!

We'll be there for 10 days celebrating my 40th birthday!!
And Happy Birthday!

Here's an update on #4.

The walking path is open all the way to WL. Both the paved path that goes to the bus depot and the gravel "Nature Trail" that comes out at the bike/boat rental shack at WL.

Rode them on my bike with my DS this morning.

I have heard nothing but good reviews on Kenny with the exception that he seems to be a bit disorganized, probably because he is a one man operation trying to keep his overhead low so he can continue to offer great rates. If you haven't heard from him, just keep calling until you reach him. I am sure everything will be fine though.

WONDERFUL!!!!!! I took a friend on her 40th birthday and had her a shirt that said something like "Today is my 40th birthday and I am celebrating with Mickey Mouse." She got lots of good wishes and had a great day!

Have fun!

I just got back yesterday from there....

Keep in mind that the path from FW to WL is very dark at night (their are no lights on the path or the street next to it) and I don't believe you can take the golf cart. So, bring a flash light if you'll be on it after 8pm. We rode our bikes over for a nightcap and to watch their little movie on the beach, electric water parade and fireworks (It's much better to watch this stuff from FW). Also the only snakes I 've ever seen were at Wildreness Lodge at night on the sidewalk in between the resort and villas, so watch your step.

The pool for the cabins is currently closed (I am hopeing they are adding a slide, but keeping the pool depth as the main pool is not very deep at all). So anyway you'll need to plan on using the main pool. It has a slide and a great little kiddie water park area.

BUGS- None to speak of except one presistant yellow fly. Never failed their was always at least one trying to bite us, but that could have just been our location which is very tree'd (1900 loop).

Happy Birthday! Celebrating your birthday with Disney is definitly the way to go...I just celebrated my 40th 31 days ago on the new Disney Dream. It sure made crossing that age bridge alot easier, especially when your gliding along the Aqua Duck. LOL! Display the Birthday button they will give you with pride! :)

Not to hijack this thread, but... I AM!

See you all there in a few days!

Is there any kind of DIS Meet at the Fort? Like "at the pool on Saturday night at 5:00" for instance? Wear your green hidden Mickey paint chip, hehe.

I've been told that the cabin pool no longer has a deep end it is now like the main pool 3 1/2 feet deep

Well that's the pits, I use to love to go over there and swim some laps. The main pool is a good size and the slide is really fast and fun, but their is no way to actually swim in it even when it's not crowded cause it's way to shallow.

I’m with you love to go over to the cabin pool late and do laps. I will now just go to the lodge and swim they have a full outside bar and a very nice pool.
