Arriving the night before question

Due to the lack of flight times I am comfortable with on the morning of my check in on May 19th, I have pretty much decided to fly in the night before.

I've been told the Holiday Inn Lake Buena Vista is right across the street, and the rate for a night is not so bad. The only issue I have is getting to there from the airport. Mears taxi fare estimator estimates a big fat charge for that ride, which doesn't surprise me. I am trying to find an affordable way to get to that area from Orlando International.

My other option would be to stay at Disney for a night and use Magic Express, which oddly enough, would be cheaper, but it's more steps.

Thoughts?

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by more steps, but I think getting a room only reservation in a value resort would probably be easiest. You can book Pop for about $120. Even the value resorts are clean and nice and with DME you wouldn't have to worry about the expensive taxi ride.:cool1:

The "more steps" means that staying at Disney adds an extra transportation step, but maybe not even one that matters all that much.

(It'd be Airport-Disney via ME-cab ride to Vista, where as the other option is Airport- Hotel, which is right across the street, requiring no further transportation)

Whatever you decide, would you mind posting it here just so I could get an idea of what to do?
I'm planning on leaving (probably) June 7th as my check-in date in June 9th. I'm not to sure where to stay or how to get from the airport to WDW or hotel/motels around the area.

I made my choice. I am going to spend a night at the pop century resort, and use the Disney Magical Express (so cool that it's free) to get to the hotel. the morning of my check in, I'll arrange a cab ride over to Vista Way (which according to estimates is about 15 or so dollars)

Won't be doing any parks that day I arrive (why pay when I can wait a week and get in for free) but I'll probably explore Downtown Disney a bit. I've never actually been.

Transportation in Orlando is expensive. Using ME to POP is a great option, gets you Disney Transportation to DTD or elsewhere on property that day of arrival, and as you say Taxi next morning will be much less than from airport.

Be sure to check your discount options for the room to save more. Book by March 31st and take advantage of Disney Spring Specials, POP would be around $96 plus tax with it. Savings should more than cover your taxi ride.

Thank You Very Much! I looked up some stuff and the DME seems like a good thing to consider! P:cool1:

Thank You for all the info!:thanks:

I'm also flying and I plan on staying at the All Stars Music resort two days before my check in date. I'm going to the Magic Kingdom for one day because, I really want to ride seven dwarfs roller coaster :) Magical Express is really nice because, you don't have to claim your bags when you arrive and when we you get to your hotel they are already there!

I thought about going to a park, but my mind keeps reminding me, I'll eventually get a free ticket in, so I'll just hold off on that, but have fun!

I want to go into the parks too, but I need to have some self restraint, lol. I will need to get some things set up first.
I hope you have a great time in the parks and I am looking forward to the seven dwarfs roller coaster too. The line will probably be really really long....:rolleyes1

That is nice about not having to claim your bags too. Thank You for the info!:maleficen

Just an FYI, you must book your Magical Express in advance. Once you get your flight information, call and add it to your reservation. Disney will then send you a voucher along with yellow labels which you must put on your luggage. Your bags will be checked at your departing airport through to Orlando (MCO). They will be picked up at MCO and sent to your Disney hotel usually about 3 hours after your flight lands at MCO. IF there is anything you will need right away, then carry it on the plane!

P.s. Congrats on all of your acceptances:):yay:
