We are coming in at 10:20pm into SNA airport on a thursday and trying to decided if we should just spend that night near the airport or head to Disneyland.

If we stay near the airport we would get up early and head to Disneyland.

My concern is it being dark and late and not knowing the area, and if by chance we got delayed and got in even later then it would be nice to just be there.

We most likely plan to take super shuttle.

Also, is there a rental car company that we can rent at the airport and drop us at Disney, that would be another option, if going straight to Disney.

Depending on the price of the room at DL I might think about renting a hotel at or near the Airport for one night. The nice thing about that is you can check in early the next day and should you have special requests they may be able to accommodate you easier.

Yes there is a national car rental car return near DL. National will also shuttle you back to the resort area. Should you stay in a hotel at the airport I would pick one with a shuttle service to pick you up at the airport then take you back in morning.

Please be aware that SNA's last flight of the day is 9:55pm No flights go out of that airport after 10:00 PM. I have no idea if flights can come in later then 10. The no flight out is due to noise control as flight pattern is over residental area.

Hope this helps.

One more thing -- check price for drop off fees should you rent a car that night. I am not sure how long the car rental places stay open at the airport. ( I always picked national when in Hawaii as they do not charge a drop off fee is returned to another location)

In regards to hotel room at Disney, we are DVC and using points and have enough to do either way.

The flight is def listed at getting in at 10:20pm.

I would hop in a cab from SNA straight to Disneyland. It will cost you about $40 and take 15 minutes that time of night with no traffic. Then you won't have to unpack/pack up and check in to a different hotel the next morning. You'll be ble to get into the parks quicker.

We always take a cab and it is super fast when there is no traffic.

Have fun!

That might be an idea.

Wasn't super comfortable doing super shuttle that late at night, not knowing where others might be getting dropped of or picked up...just sounds like it could get creepy.

THe good thing is we are coming from FL so we will still be awake!

Coming in that late from Florida will mean that your bodies will think it's 1:20am.

I've never had a non-hotel guest on Super Shuttle. But if that's a worry for you, get Karmel Shuttle. Part of their "deal" is that they don't wait for others; you have the reservation, you get the van.

I would just go to the Disney hotel. Don't mess around with other hotels, and having to switch, etc. Just snag the shuttle and get settled in.

Coming in from the east coast means that in the *morning* you will be waking up nice and early for Pacific time, and you'll be able to get moving fast! (it's sooo the opposite for us going from WA to FL...we stay up forever, since midnight FL is just 9pm for us, then when the morning comes it is painful!) Even though I'm an avowed split-stay person, since you don't know the area, just go to the Grand (I assume) and sleep.

Our only time using super shuttle out of LAX, we dropped of two people off at different houses/apts and picked someone else up at their house.

100% this unless you've saving the points for something else. Getting to DLR will from SNA will be a breeze at night and will save you time in the morning. Wouldn't worry about things being creepy, it's OC (quite tame compared to parts of metro LA to the north) and a resort area to boot so unlikely that anything odd comes up :thumbsup2
