arriving late at rental car

hi everyone. i have a question about rental cars. i rented a car on-line with alamo in july before i knew the flight times of my arrival & departure. i just entered 12 noon as a pick-up & drop-off time. when i bought my tickets tuesday i went to change the times on my reservation & the total was tripled!!! needless to say i didn't make the changes & stayed with the original times so i didn't lose the reservation. my question is, if i don't change the times & get to the rental counter 5-6 hours later will they cancel my reservation or possibly charge me more $. has anyone ever done this? thanks!

I have had my pick-up times change drastically due to flight time changes. I just called the car rental company, and they could modify my pick-up time over the phone while keeping my rate the same. I did this just a week ago with alamo.
