Morning all. We will be arriving at the Fort in June and we have a cabin booked... where is the best loop to stay to be close to the Pool???? Also Really how far is it walking between the bay and the Entrance? Trying to gauge where would be best to stay.... Can't afford the golf cart but i have a bum knee....

According to the map that FW gives out it is about a mile from the check in to the beach, so about a half mile from the cabins.
There is a pool by the cabins that will be closer that the one by the Meadows trading post.
They have bus transportation in side the campground to get you around.
Have fun

Shan-man has posted some exact measurements in the past (you might want to give the search feature a whirl if you're interested) but the upshot is that the closest cabin loop is still about a 1 mile walk from the marina, and the furthest is about a 1.5 miles.

If it helps, there's a map HERE

I have had the 2600 loop three times. It was very close to the pool. But this is not the pool with all of the bells and whistles or should I say slides and squirters. But as an adult, that was fine with me. Get a Cabin near the entrance of the loop and you will be close to the pool, and bus stop. It is far from the rest of the stuff. You might have to use the internal bus more often.

If someone else hasn't mentioned it yet, check the sticky's at the top of the page and there is some great Golf Cart info on other vendors that are cheaper then Disney. We are using one this time and we save $100 for the week.

Thank you all for all the ideas and details.... The kids and I are bringing bikes so a 4 seater would be great..... I really have been reading up on this thread for the last week,... I am getting excited I love camping and this was perfect for our family of 6 ... I want to check everything out and maybe next yr we will get a camper.

It is a hike from any cabin loop to the marina -- it is .94 mi from the closest cabin and 1.53 mi from the farthest cabin to the end of the dock.

This post includes some other useful distances.

Thanks..... I am thinking i am going to break down and rent a cart... I had my ACL replaced last yr ( i play pro womens football) and I am playing again this yr but after 4 days in the world of none stop going i am afraid i will need some help...lol.. with how big Ft Wilderness is

Thanks Shan - my memory was off by a bit (ugh - need more coffee).

We have never regretted getting a golf cart. This time we have only a 4 person one. So with 6 of us we will be doing some back and forth.....it is all good.

We put the cart in our budget every year. This year we were going to use our Disney Visa points at the FW for the golf cart. But we got a better deal elsewhere for the cart!!! SO we will use are points to pay the cabin bill.

We also rent a car. I got a mini van for $199 plus tax and extra driver. Codes are on Mousesaver.com

Have fun.

I will be driving down. With taking 6 people down it is cheaper to drive the Excursion then fly.. plus i like to drive to the waterparks instead of the bus and we can go get grocerys..... I called my little bro last night his in laws have a golf cart he is going to see if i can borrow it... So then i will just have to stop in SC and pick it up which he is right off 95 so no biggy.... The kids are also bringing their bikes...

Nice, that works out well. The Cart needs to be electric....just in case you didn't know.

I hear ya on driving to water parks. I like to drive to DTD. It always seems like the buses take an hour to get you there and it only a 5 minute drive.

Yes i made sure it was electric.... I just like driving to the waterparks cause you actually park closer then the bus drops you off and you can take your coolers in

Yup! There's actually info on 2 off-site rental companies that have been recommended here in THIS THREAD. The info. is current and is also included in the FAQ sticky. :)

I tell you what... Ya'll are getting me wanting to get down there now and not wait till June.... Anyone else going down the week of June 20th?
