Hi all..
The plans WERE to drive down to WDW leaving NY state on Saturday, May 15. Usually we take 2 days to drive down, (2 adults). Well, since there's a Nascar race in Richmond on Saturday night we figured I-95 might be a bit busy so we decided instead to leave on Friday, the 14th... (though we could just decide to hop in the car and leave on Thursday afternoon!!)
Our checkin is for Monday, the 17th. The last few trips we've taken we've arrived a day or two early each time.. and every time we've stayed at a different non-DVC resort for a night or two each time before our DVC check in. We've been lucky that each time we've gotten a AP rate..and each time we've gotten a stay at a resort that we've never tried before.
I called today and got two nights at Port Orleans. So we'll stay there before moving "home" to the WLV for 3 nights..then over to the BWV for the rest of our stay. A long time ago we stayed at Dixie Landings when the two resorts were separate.
I checked the Birnbaum's guide and it mentions bus transportation to DD. I swore I read somewhere that there was boat transporation there.. or am I wrong? Though we'll have our car I hate trying to park at DD... and I really hate buses. Is there boat transportion to DD from PO? Any info on PO is welcome!
Also... can we, as DVC members, go over and look at the new Saratoga Springs resort or do we have to be staying there? I have no interest in buying points there.. we have plenty... but I sure would like to see it. (wouldn't we all!!)
