Arrived home.....no luggage..anyone have this happen with ME?

We left yesterday Orlando to Atlanta connecting and then on to Rochester NY. When we arrived at Orlando airport for our 7:20 pm flight we were told that weather in Atlanta was terrible and flights were all messed up. We left at 10:15 and went to Atlanta and then onto Rochester and arrived home at 12:20ish.......NO BAGS. All 9 were missing. So we came home and were told that they would be delivered today by 4:00....its now 6:30 and no bags. They have found 5 out of the 9.....Is this a common occurance? I dont fly often and now I am so sad. The bags had clothing and lots of new Disney "Stuff" in them. Is is quite common for bags to be missing for a few days if flights are messed up. I am concerned as they all left together but only 5 have been found. Please make me feel better and tell me this happens all the time and that DELTA will find them for us...PLEASE SOMEONE??????I am guessing it was not ME but it was the mixed up flights in Atlanta but 6 flughts have arrived from Atlanta to Rochester since our flight landed and no sign of the bags (they say they have 5 but can't track the other 4 yet....) I am clinging to the word YET. Thanks


YEAH they just called and have found all 9 and will deliver them tomorrow. I should say that the young girl at the counter last night and the young girl who just called were so nice. I was shocked at the way people were treating the poor girl last night. Granted it was late and people had been stuck in the airport for hours BUT really now....she didnt personally "misplace" the bags. She was in Rochester the bags were "lost" somewhere between. She was very kind even though people were very rude to her. She was trying so hard to type in info and there was only one of her and about 58 people in line. I am thrilled that our bags have arrived and am such a wimp about the bags. We dont fly often and this has never happened before!! I hope it never happens again........I will be writing a note to Delta with the young ladies names so they know how helpful they were. Thank you Shannon and Diane

HI! I am so sorry to hear about your missing luggage! It is bad enough coming home after vacation, but this is a BIG BUMMER.

I have had lost bags plenty of times, but I must say NEVER between Indy and Orlando. Chicago and Houston, yes. Indy and Vegas, yes. Dallas and Tulsa, yes. But never on a flight to Orlando, not even from Dallas to Orlando. And YES, flight delays and changes are more likely to cause lost luggage.

They will probably find your bags. A few years ago, we were going to Austria and were routed from Charlotte to Dulles to New York....then on to Austria. When we got to Dulles, a huge storm moved into NY cancelling flights left and right. Our incoming was one of them so we were stuck in DC. When flights resumed, our overseas flight had already left before we made it to NY. There were no available seats until 3 days later because of such a backlog.

To sum it up, we wound up cancelling our trip but our luggage went on to Austria! I think we got it back a week or so after we got home. We were booked on Delta, too...so I think there's a good chance you will get your lost luggage...I certainly hope you do!

ME had probably nothing to do with it. Once they got to the airport and the airline had control of your bags that is where the problem happened.

I am glad to read all your luggage was found & should be returned to you today. I have had the opportunity to use the Rochester Airport & found the various employees to be friendly & helpful.

It sounds like this was an airline problem and not related to ME since it appears that you weren't the only one with missing luggage and part of your luggage did arrive.

As you discovered, in most cases it just winds up on the next flight. In more trips then I can count. (I travel A LOT for business) I have never actually lost a bag.

Travel brings out the worst in some people and they think by abusing the airline employees they will get what they want. (some of them probably thought she was really hiding thier luggage just to be mean.)
