We arrive SNA at 7:30 pm tonight, no checked luggage, will hop in a cab and head for DLH. We'll want to check in & probably check out our room. Do you think we can get over to Goofy's for their last seating time--8:55pm? Do they have fresh/hot food past the posted 9pm close? And will there still be good character interaction at that time?

Otherwise we'll head for Tangaroa Terrace.

Thanks!!

As long as there is no traffic and your plane is not delayed, I think you can probably make it, but I don't think you're going to make it with tons of time to spare.

Based on Google Maps it's about a 20 minute drive from SNA to DLR. I would allow at least 20 minutes to de-plane and get the taxi. So at best you'll get to DLH around 8:30 pm.

Personally, I would not make a reservation because of the $10 per person penalty you'll be charged if you do not show up for the reservation. I would probably play it by ear...if you get to DLH in time, go over to Goofy's and see if they're taking walk-ups. Otherwise, head over to Tangaroa Terrace.

Personally, I would schedule Goofy's for some other time. I think you would be cutting it close but could make it to Goofy's by 8:55 assuming you experience no delays with flight or traffic. I just wouldn't want that last seating of the night though. I would worry about feeling rushed and having lesser character interaction and possibly even fewer food options. I don't have any personal experience with this dining time, but those would be my concerns.

What Figment Jii suggested...100%.

We recently flew down to the Disney area from Portland, OR- Direct flight on Alaska. We have flown countless times without any problems. On our flight down we were delayed over 4 hours due to mechanical issues and a crew issue. On our return flight, we were delayed over 2 hours due to mechanical issues. It just reminded me that you can never count on getting where you plan to go on the time schedule you plan on. I would not risk the chance of being delayed and losing money for the dinner. Do it on a day/time where you can go and enjoy and not feel rushed.

We had the last seating of the night last year, after arriving on an early evening flight. They were literally closing up the place around us and it was a mess after a day's hard use. The food trays were mostly just crusty left-overs and there were only 3 characters besides Goofy out front, none of whom lingered. Overall, very, very disappointing especially when considering it was $170.00 for 4.

Yes to the above! We flew on SW a few months ago, and we were delayed leaving Portland, and then delayed on the tarmac with our connecting flight... We should have been at our hotel at 11:00, and got there at 1:30am or so....And nothing we could have planned differently to avoid the issues. I would have been frustrated to miss a character meal because of a flight snafoo, especially now that they charge!

I wouldn't schedule any character meals for the first day after travel. There could be issues, you could not feel like a buffet after a ton of travel or a bunch of other reasons it's not worth it. It's probably better to schedule it some point during a full day at DLR or on the morning of your last day depending on when you fly back.
