We (four ladies) arrive into MCO at 10:30pm October 10th. We are staying in two studios at BCV from the 11th - 14th. I'm out of points so should we just get a room near the airport and then check-in early the next day or should we try to get one room (we'll share for one night) at YC/BC and hope for a code?

What hotel near the airport would you recommend? Any other suggestions?

I would get a room at a value resort or DTD hotel for that first night. Then you don't have the long ride from the airport in the morning and can get to the parks or whatever faster. I like to wake up at WDW each day of my trips. That's my vote!

OT-have you ever eaten at Mystic Pizza?

When arriving late we always stay at the Hyatt in the airport terminal. You will probably tired because it is late and commuting to another hotel may be the last thing that you will want to do. You can't beat stepping off the plane and into your hotel room. You will be refreshed and ready for the next morning. Have a great trip.

I agree.....hyatt at mco....

1st thing....head over to ME...

Is the Hyatt hotel quiet? Airport hotels make me nervous. I am a light sleeper and if you an hear the noise from the terminal or the runways I won't sleep. Do you book the Hyatt direct or have you had luck with discount sites?

I checked quickly on the Hyatt site and the room was around $275. Only problem, it has double beds. Two of the ladies don't know each other that well, so that might not work out.

Another thought is two rooms at a value. I guess I'll just keep looking around.

Another vote for a value at WDW. As the other poster stated, you don't have that commute from the airport the next morning and nothing is better than waking up in WDW. I never sleep well my first night, so I would rather make the trip to WDW my first night than waste more time the next morning. :)

The Hyatt is very quiet. The best deal that I found was $259/per night but this rate includes full breakfast.

We've stayed at the Sheraton Suites, right across from the airport - here's the website. http://www.sheratonairport.com/. You could get a suite with 2 double beds and a sleep sofa. It's short hop to and from MCO so you could easily take a hotel shuttle back to the in the morning and then catch ME.

tinawv - I've never stayed at a value so it might be fun to stay in one. Plus we can get two rooms for the price of one and everyone will have a bed and two bathrooms! What value would you recommend?

GDM - thanks for the info on the Hyatt!

paras4ri - I'll check into it. The suites might work for our group.

Snyderla - I live about 1/2 mile from Mystic Pizza! We don't eat there from June through September - too crowded with tourists. The back of my head is in the movie. I was on a sailboat that sailed by! I hope that's not my 15 min. of fame!:rotfl: They actually filmed alot of the movie in Stonington borough which is the next town over from Mystic. I live on that side of Mystic. The movie does a good job of showing how pretty it is here.

I've stayed at the Sheraton Suites and the Renaissance by the airport, both were very nice and have airport shuttles. We like to stay by the airport when getting in late, as we can get over to WDW in the morning, check in, then hit the parks (as opposed to flying in that morning, and being too tired to go into the parks).

When we arrive late I always get a room through Priceline near the airport. If you bid on a 3* hotel in the MCO zone you will get a very nice room for under $50 as a rule. In that zone the 3* hotels are the Hyatt inside the airport, the Sheraton Suites, the Renaissance, the Crowne Plaza and the Holiday Inn Select. All (except the Hyatt which is inside the airport) have very efficent shuttle service 24/7...so you just give them a call from the courtesy phones near baggage carousels and they will be there in less than 10 minutes to pick you up. Ditto for the return to the airport in the AM. You could easily get 2 rooms at that price. We frequently get the Hyatt inside the airport, although the other places have larger rooms and bathrooms, so I do not mind the short shuttle ride. I would start bidding at $43 and go up by $2 per bid until you hit on something (sometimes it is $45 to 48). The 2.5* hotels in that zone through Priceline are nice too (just no chance of getting the Hyatt that way)

I do not like going to a value or moderate when we arrive late because you have to wait through the rental car lines, drive 30 to 40 minutes to get to the resort, check in and then try and find a place to park near your building in the dark and lug all your stuff up the stairs, etc, etc...for a 10:30 arrival it will be 12:30 or so before you get into your room....when we stay near the airport we are usually in our rooms within 45 minutes of the time we get off the plane

Debbie,

I can only recommend POP Century as this is the only value I have stayed at. We really enjoyed our stay there, and it would be perfect for an overnight stay. WDW will transport your luggage to the BVC for you, or you could take a taxi and move your luggage with you. Some people do this because WDW can't guarantee a time that your luggage will be delivered to your new room. :)

SB in KY - I like those numbers! Thanks for the Priceline info.

tinewv - POP looks like alot of fun. I think I read somewhere that the luggage is transfered by 3 or 4pm. I have done this before and it worked out okay, as long as you had everything you needed for the day. I don't expect to get into the room before then anyway.

I've been looking at on-site rack rate room prices online and I just can't justify $400 a night for a room to just sleep in for eight hours (deluxe). I've been known to drop some $$, but it has to be justified!!

Value or off-site looks better and better. The friends I'm going with have all been to WDW, but they rely upon me for all the reservations and scheduling. Thanks for all your help.

Check out the Royal Plaza at DTD. We are getting it for one night before going to our WDW resort at rate of $109 including 2 free buffets. (Mouse Savers rate)

We are arriving late too in August. If we stay at an Airport hotel, we can still catch ME in the morning?? I was thinking we would have to rent a car if we stayed over at the Airport. If our flight is totally on time we probably won't arrive at WDW until after midnight, YUCK!!

I also prefer to get right to WDW when I arrive. All Star Music has newly refurbished rooms and I have read it is quieter than the other values. POP is nice too, but Music is a little smaller. Either would be nice.

ON!!!!! We did this last year, and I hated every moment of it. We didn't get to AK that day until about 10. With the fact that my ds wanted to leave at about 2 for a nap, we were highly disappointed with this decision.

Tink,
The Mrs and I did the same sort of thing in April...A late night arrival, the day befroe the real WDW trip started. Our main stay was at the Wilderness Lodge. The night we arrived, we stayed at Pop Century. The next Morning, we hailed a cab to WL. (we let Disney move our bags on split stays before, and they do fine. This time it was just the wife and I and we only had 2 bags, so we just threw them in the cab.) Loved being in WDW from the outset, even if it was just to sleep. We feel much more relaxed that way. Plus the price of Pop was quite competitive to anything I'd be willing to stay in off site.

We took Magical Express from the Airport and it was grand. If you do the same, you need to decide what to do with your luggage. If you want it brought to your room you need to do nothing. If it's too late (~ after 1am) they'll bring the bags bright and early in the am. If just want them held at the luggage station @ Pop, you need to tell them at check in. We did the latter. Picked up our bags the next morning on our way to WL.

Enjoy your time.

Z

You can ride the ME even if you spend the night in an airport hotel. Every guest is entitled to a ride to WDW on the day of their resort check in and a ride from WDW to the airport on the day of checkout. All you need to do is make your reservation for DME for the date and time you want to ride, ie., we are arriving Sat night at 11PM and spending the night at the Hyatt in the airport. We want to get to the resort early the next AM to check in so we can pick up our passes and DDP and still get to the parks by 9AM...so I made the DME reservation for Sunday AM early. We will pick up our own luggage Sat night and take it down with us Sunday AM.
