Hi - We will be arriving into the Orlando airport at 4pm. I am trying to decide what to do for dinner that evening. I don't know how long it will take us to get our luggage, take the ME, check in, etc, but I am assuming that it will take longer than I think it will ;). Since we are arriving in the late afternoon/early evening and we have 3 young kids, I would obviously like to keep it close-by and easy. Any suggestions?

Is the counter service restaurant at the Contemporary any good? Or would we be better off trying The Wave?

Is the Poly easy to get to - maybe the Kona Cafe?

Or maybe we should just stick with room service?? :confused3

Thanks for your suggestions!!!

Poly is definitely easy to get to! Just a monorail ride away! Kona Cafe is great! I've never eaten @ the other two so I can't compare!

Are you staying @ the Contemporary?

I personally would opt for the CS at the Contemorary if I was arriving that close to dinner with 3 young children. I think it is nice to not have to worry about the timing of a reservation. Obviously, the food would be better at The Wave or Kona Cafe but the Contempo Cafe is pretty good for a CS.

I guess you could also make a reservation and if it doesn't work out you could always go to the CS. Have you thought about going to Chef Mickey's?

I would suggest Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary. Its just a short walk over to the next building, kids get to see Mickey and friends at the character dining, and I know people will disagree with me, but we thought the food was good. Especially the dessert buffet!

DH and I had takeout from the CS at the Contemporary and it was excellent. Not your typical CS offerings. BTW we cancelled Citricos that night to eat CS at the Contemporary. DH is a food snob.

You should be fairly safe to make an ADR for 7:30pm....the airport and DME are not nearly as busy in the late afternoon as they are in the morning. I would tend to think that the kids are going to need a snack around 4pm so you should be fine to have a late dinner.

Personally, I would just go with CS at any of the monorail resorts. We like to make our arrival day just a day to get settled and maybe hit the pool. We usually go to DTD for dinner but that really depends on what time we get to the resort.

I just looked at your signature and your kids are really little....7:30 is probably getting close to bed time. I think I would just stick with CS. Even room service might take too long.

The Wave is outstanding - my second favorite restaurant in the World! Don't know how difficult it would be to get a ressie though. Contempo Cafe is also very good. They have some more healthier and flavorful choices than the typical food court burgers and pizza. Kona Cafe is also good, but try The Wave first if you can.
