Arrival Day Suggestions

I can not believe it but we leave this Friday. We will check in on Saturday. After driving 15-17 hours I doubt we will want to do the parks. So we plan to hang out at the hotel (ASMu Family Suite). Any suggestions for dinner?

We never go to a park on our arrival day either but we always go to a character meal at a resort. This Nov. it will be Cinderella's Gala Feast at GF. it's been CM in the past.

I also suggest a bus ride to the TTC and a ride on the monorail(s) just to get into that Disney spirit

I would check into what your hotel offers. We are not planning on going into the parks on arrival day either and I am just planning on food from the POR food court. My plan is to let them swim and unwind after a day of flying and to make it an early night so we can hit MK bright and early the next day.

We always have dinner at Chef Mickeys our first night. It is our little tradition and then we either go to a park or got to DTD and go shopping.

last year we did not want to waste our pass the first day so I made a reservation at Ohana at the polynesian. If you time it right you can arrive early and walk around the hotel grounds - the poly is beautiful and after dinner you can watch the electric light parade from the beach and then watch the fireworks from the beach after that. Or it would also be a nice opportunity to do the luau at the polynesian.

If I were making that drive, I'd be focused on rest, walking a bit to get the kinks out, and probably a jaccuzi and early to bed! Food would be the farthest thing from my mind.

We used to do a 20 hr drive, hit the beds for a nap and start the Disney experience with a visit to Whispering Canyon. If WC doesn't get you in the disney spirit, nothing will.

That's what we're doing. Flying in, getting settled and heading to MK for a few hours or a monorail ride before boating to WCC to start our first family trip off right. Ordering a mickey head cake to be waiting for us at WCC since both DS birthdays are the week we're there.

Most of you prob. know this, but for all those who don't do a park the first day because they don't want to waste a day on their passes, if you can get another day check the prices. By the time you get to 7 day passes an extra day costs next to nothing. My dad is meeting us down at WDW this June. He will be there 5 full days, but I got him the 7 day hopper for just $7 more then the 5 day. When you get past 7 days it's even less per day.

This is the PERFECT arrival day (at least according to my family)...if we arrive after noon, we usually check-in, head for the food court and get a bite to eat, sit down and relax during lunch, then (if our room is ready) unpack, and freshen up....sometimes go for a swim or walk around the resort....finally we head over to the Poly and eat dinner at Ohana....planned around the fireworks, we request a window table so we can start our vacation with the magic of Wishes...it really gears up te kids for their first full day at WDW!
