Does anyone else have a ritual that they do upon arrival at WDW. We always go to the Contemporary Hotel after checking in and ride the monrail around both magic kingdom loop and then the Epcot loop then return to watch fireworks and eat ice cream from the contemporary hotel. It just gears up for the next day to go to the parks and shows any 1st timers with us the scope of the parks.pirate:

i usually drop my bags off and head to magic kingdom via monorail or ferry boat. magic kingdom always gets me in the disney mode and nothing IMO beats spectromagic to top the night off. only once my room wasn't ready and we had to leave our bags with bell services. the other times, i unpack in record time and head to the park. one time we didn't even upack first!

We unpack at the Poly as soon as we get there which is usually between 12 and 2pm. We then go down to Captain Cooks and have a quick lunch before heading to the MK for a couple hours. DD always gets to pick the first ride or attraction we do and it is either Small World or Pooh. We come back to the resort, eat dinner at Kona's, and then get a good nights sleep for a fun 10 days!

We always spend our first night at Downtown Disney and begin by doing some shopping and eating and enjoying the DISNEY atmosphere! Walk through the shops, taste the treasts-- and usually eat sushi at Wolfgang Pucks! It really sinks in that we are at WDW (again) and we realize how much fun our vacation is going to be! :)

ENJOY!!!!

Can you ride the monorail even if you haven't activated you park tickets yet? We are not going into the parks our first day so we can save a day on a PHP until we have a full day. Can we still ride around on the monorail on the first day we get there?

Ours is going to the Magic Kingdom then to Chef Mickey's for dinner! We've done this each trip for the past several years!

:sunny:

kctinkerbell: you don't need your park ticket to ride the monorail. many people don't even have tickets yet!

My Ritual is to take the bus over to the CR and ride the monorail one time around the loop. After that I go down into the arcade and grab a bite to eat and then head outside and watch the water parade.
This trip is my BF first time in Disney so I've decided to take him for a ride on the monorail then up to CG for a relaxing dinner and top the night off with a walk around Poly grounds.

We don't have any rituals as far as where to eat or go on the day we arrive but there is one ritual we never skip. As soon as we enter our room for the first time, the kids take off their shoes and jump on the beds. They do that for about a minute or so just to get it out of their systems and "christen" our room. This was started by my DH who is not as paranoid about injuries as I am. For the rest of the trip, no jumping on the beds is permitted (someone could get hurt you know...or break the bed!).

We go to MGM to ride TOT. I just have to reassure myself that it's still there :p

We let the kids swim for a while then we either go see Bob Jaskson at PORS or eat at Beaches and Cream. We also take a loop on the Monrail and do the majority of our shopping at DtD.

we have in the past....actually they rarely check and if you are staying onsite you can ride it 24 hrs a day (well actually not 24 hrs unless you just sneak on & sit in the dark when it is closed but you get the picture!) we love to do that first day cause we love to ride it anyway.. usually take the boat to contemp. and get on there but not this time sincer staying at pop. need to get new ritual I guess

We hang at our resort. Eat at the resort restaurant, and usually fit in a swim or a walk around the resort before hitting the hay early. We usually don't get in until supper time, so I never count that day as a park day!

WE TRY TO FLY IN EARLY, AROUND NOON, WE UNPACK QUICKLY, WAH UP AND CHANGE AND OF TO MGM FOR ROCK N ROLLER COASTER, THIS RIDE IS MY DAUGHTERS FAVORITE, I CAN ONLY GO ON ONCE THEN I HAVE TO SIT FOR A WHILE UNTIL THE SICK FEEL GOES AWAY, AND THEN WE GO TO CALMER RIDE. I WISH SHE HAD SOMEONE TO GO ON THESE RIDES WITH, MY STOMACH DOESN'T LIKE GOING UPSIDE DOWN.

We check out our resort to get the lay of the land (we have tried new resorts last two trips), have a big drink with rum in it, unpack, head to the Poly for more drinks at the Tambu Lounge and dinner at the Poly, then take the monorail to MK to walk on a few rides before the fireworks.

The back to our resort for a decent night's sleep before attacking Epcot on our first full day.

Having only been to the World once before, we are a little light on tradition. However, we can't wait to get to Tommorrowland and get Mickey Bars.:earseek: :earseek: :earseek: We ate them every day at the MK. Do they sell them at the other parks??

I am addicted to Mickey Bars. Even on our Disney cruises, I choose Mickey Bars over the other fabulous desserts they serve.

Yes you can get Mickey bars at all of the parks.

:earsboy:

Our last 4 Christmas/New Year's trips we've headed to WDW just after lunchtime,
and head over to Epcot for the Candlelight Processional, usually after dinner
somewhere in the World Showcase.. It's a good start for a busy week. Quite
often, if the MK is open late (midnight), we hurryhurryhurry over to the MK to
see the late fireworks and do some late riding at the MK....

12 days to go!!!!!!!!! whoo hoo!!!

It depends on who is with me on the trip and where we are staying. With DH , we always arrived at the BW and had lunch at Spoodles until they stopped doing lunch. With my best friend, we always get a convertible and are immediately in vacation mode!!We check in at BWI (room is not usually ready) and head over to Mexico for lunch. Sitting in front of the volcano, in the cool and dark atmosphere, the Disney immersion is complete. Our upcoming trip we are staying at the GF fir the first 7 nights and starting a new tradition.Lunch at the GF Cafe, poolside for the afternoon, an aromatherapy spa bath in the early evening with a room service dinner ( ladies only in the lap of luxury!!!). I can hardly wait !!:hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

We plan on arriving at about 12PM on Jan 5th. After checking into the Poly our traditional "1st stop" is the Magic Kingdom. We always have dinner the 1st night at Artist Point in the WL.:earsboy:
