Arrival Day Plans - Help!

I will be arriving with a party of 10, including my 2 nephews (6 &7) who have never been to WDW, around noon time on Mon, January 21st. We are staying onsite 1/21-1/28 with park hoppers for all days.

I'm trying to decide which park to hit on arrival day... It's MLK day and Epcot is the only recommended park but with two younger kids, I'm not sure that's really the best park.

I'm sort of leaning towards AK because they are open until 7pm that night. I've never been there in the dark and think it would be AWESOME to ride Everest in the dark!

Any advice/comments would be appreciated!

Just me, but I would do Epcot first. I guess I don't understand why everyone thinks that park is such a drag for kids when it really isn't and doesn't have to be.....

I too think EPCOT would be fine!! The kids will love all the rides in Norway, Mexico, etc... and the movies in China, France, Canada!! Lets not forget Soarin' and Test Track, Spaceship Earth, etc...

I personally always suggest going to Epcot first, even with kids. There's lots for them to do, Nemo, Figment, Character Spot, Test Track, etc and there's always a fireworks show to end the day.

The others in my party have no real opinion and are leaving things up to me... On the one hand, I like that but on the other, I worry about the details too much!

I think Epcot would be fun for a first day and I'm pretty sure my nephews would enjoy it as well. My DD10 loves Epcot...

I can see the benefits of doing AK (Everest after dark anyone?) and also Epcot on that first day... What to do.. What to do...

I'd do EPCOT or AK. Probably AK because they're open later and riding EE in the dark is enticing to me too.
