Arrival day plan - will this work?

My flight will arrive in Orlando at 12:30 on Sunday April 21. Assuming we land on time, my plan is to get our bags and rental car, drive to the Polynesian and check in. Hopefully we'll be able to get our room early, but if not that's fine too. I would like to head directly to the MK to see the 3pm parade and then take the boat to FW for the 5pm Hoop Dee Doo Revue. How practical a plan is this?

A separate issue is that my husband thinks it's cruel and unusal punishment to take the kids (9, 7, and 4) into the MK and not go on any rides. We've got a whole week to do the rides, but due to a complicated schedule to accomodate the extended family, this is the only day we'll be able to be at the MK at 3 to see the parade.

I would have been one upset kid if my parents had taken me to MK on the first day and not let me ride anything.

But you know your kids best, and I never was a parade fan.

lol I have this picture of you watching the parade and looking around for your husband and kids....and they have left you and went on the rides :lmao:

As a kid, I'd sooooo be all over my dad if I thought he would take me on the rides and mom wanted to watch the parade...you'll have to let us know how it works out!

Does everyone else want to see the parade that badly?

To me and my family a parade is SOOOO not worth that kind of rush. Whatever the majority votes I guess. Can you watch the parade and the kids/DH go do 1 ride and have a specific meeting time/place. Not sure I would let the kids go alone with that tight of a schedule.

Good luck. :goodvibes

My daughters (9 and 7) are big parade fans and my 4 year old son is little enough to believe white lies like the rides aren't working right now, or all the people the run the rides are busy being in the parade. I don't think I'll have too many problems with them. My husband, on the other hand, might be wandering off. I'm just not sure that we can land at the airport at 12:30 and be at the MK in time for the parade.

Are the tickets (or meal plan) part of a package? Basically... do you need to check in? If not check in after Hoop De Doo. But more likely than not they are. If so, check in, but don't bother going to the room. We never do. (check the bags at the desk if you want to take the time) I would think they'd be waiting for you in your room when you get back.

As for the MK part of the question. Do you think you'll be walking in right at 3? or even a little after? If you can find it watch it right there on Main St. BUT if you think you'll be there a little before 3... I say head to the start of the parade route, find a spot and send DH for a set of fast passes. Or if you have cell phone split up upon entry, he gets FPs while you find a spot at the start of the parade route. Duck out as soon as the parade passes and (hopefully/but doubtfully) fastpasses will be good. But if not you could try to make your way back to the exit by cutting down to adventure land and checking the wait time on Jungle Cruise or Pirates on your way past. If they are not bad you will be able to sneak a ride in before the parade even wraps up a the end of Main St. And if you get in a pinch you can always drive to Hoop Dee Doo if need be. (the boat ride would be nice, but as nice as a ride on Pirates? besides, you'd probably just be staring at your watch the whole boat ride) Heck take the boat over to Fort Wilderness or to check out Wilderness Lodge later in the week if you want to.
