Arrival day ADRs?

We recently switched our package and we now have the 'free' dining plan. I am lost what to do with our arrival day meals.

We will be staying at AOA, but have no clue when we'll be getting in. We have a 24hour drive with three kids. We are giving ourselves 48hours to get to Disney, but not really mapping it all out as we just don't know.

This means we could get to our hotel at 8am or 8pm. My *hope* is that we arrive by 1pm. Currently with that in mind I figure lunch at the hotel, and we are planning to go to Epcot for supper the 1st night and watch the night show. Before switching my package, our hotel was Beach Club resort, so that's why Epcot is our 1st stop.

I am just worried if things don't go right and I have an ADR booked at Epcot for that night, but we don't make it we're charged the fine. If we don't use our TS credit that day, short of slowing down our park days for to sit down meals in one day, where can I fit them?

Advice?

Assuming you're stopping somewhere along the way in that 48 hours, you can call to cancel your arrival day ADR if it looks like you won't make it. You only need to call the day before, so you should have a good idea by that time. I would make it for as late as you can for your family just to give yourself leeway for any traffic delays.

If you decide not to do that first evening TS, you could do a last morning breakfast buffet or even do one during your stay before park opening so as not to miss touring time. OR plan a 2TS meal to use up that extra credit. Remember, your total number of credits are tied to the NIGHTS you stay. Cindy's Royal Table or Hoop de Doo might be good TS choices for you.

Another option (assuming you have the regular dining plan) would be to use 2 TS on a different day and only plan to use CS on your arrival day. Epcot has a lot of great CS options and then you wouldn't have to worry about not getting there in time.

I'd agree with staying off site that first night. Otherwise I wouldn't make a reservation but make sure you have the MDE app on your phone and then make one if available once you see how things are going and what time you'll likely arrive. Or plan for CS that first night if needed. The TS at the moderates and DVC resorts and the secondary restaurants at the deluxe's are often available late short notice.

You could cancel your arrival date ADR and have a "play it by ear" TS for last minute cancellations. Worst case senario, you can always use it in DTD. We have done this in the past. Good luck, I know its hard to give a TS ressie, not knowing what can happen. Safe travels
