Hello All!

Welcome to my first ever pre-trip report! (I'm a little nervous, please be gentle.) 133 days from today, we'll be landing at MCO and starting our next trip to the World!

Cast of Characters:

Melissa - my dear sister-in-law and friend and the whole reason we're going on this trip (and the last one she took us on). You'll see a theme that she and her brother are giant Star Wars fans. She also loves Disney as much as I do.

Favorite Princess: Leia

Favorite Disney Movie: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Favorite Snack at the World: Caramel Corn at Hollywood Studios

Derrick - my DH and super Star Wars fan boy.

Park: Hollywood Studios

Favorite Restaurant: Biergarten

Favorite Disney Character: Donald Duck

Favorite Princess: Leia

Favorite Disney Movie: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Favorite Snack at the World: A tie between the escargot at Chefs de France and the Earth Day cupcake we had at ABC Commissary on our last trip.

Favorite Ride: Star Tours and the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor because he got to be 'That Guy'.

Favorite Disney Park Show: Celebrate the Magic and the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular because he got picked to be in it.

Bonus Tink picture because it makes me so happy!

And me... I'm Linda. A nerd for many things, I spend most of my time at Disney wiping away tears of joy.

Favorite Park: Epcot

Favorite Restaurant: Chefs de France

Favorite Disney Character: Kitty... er, Sulley!

Favorite Princess: It's a tie between Aurora for her music and Merida for her butt-kicking.

Favorite Disney Park Show: Celebrate the Magic.

We've already passed our 180 days, so here is our preliminary park schedule with current ADRs. These plans were made when we thought there was going to be SWW :crying:, so they will be evolving.

Arrival Day: We'll be at the resort by early afternoon, so depending on if we can get into our rooms early, we may nap or take a swim. We will definitely hit HS in the afternoon (gotta get that first Star Tours ride in ASAP). We haven't made an ADR, but we're thinking of heading over to the Boardwalk Bakery when we get hungry.
Sunday: HS all day, lunch at 50's Prime Time Cafe
Monday: AK morning, MK afternoon/evening, dinner at Raglan Road
Tuesday: AK morning, breakfast at 'Ohana, Epcot evening, dinner at Spice Road Table
Wednesday: AK morning, MK evening, No ADR yet
Thursday: Epcot Day! Snacking around the World, but we have an ADR at Biergarten as well.
Friday: MK am, lunch at the Plaza, rest of day at HS
Saturday: HS am, MK rest of day, dinner at BOG

132 Days!

Revised itinerary, but still not set. This one uses the current hours calendar that I know will change as we get closer, but gives a better idea as to how the trip is shaping up. (This is direct from an email exchange with DSIL, so you can see our collaboration style. ::laughing::)

Arrival Day: Stick with original plan
Sunday: HS (EMH am), move our Raglan Road dinner here
Monday: AK (EMH am), MK (EMH pm) Stick with 'Ohana ADR or schedule BOMA.
Tuesday: Make this one Epcot day (EMH pm). Stick with Spice Road Table ADR, it will be easier to snack around the world all day before that.
Wednesday: EP or HS or AK am (we can fight it out), MK EMH pm
Thursday: EP (EMH am) AK pm. We can keep our 4:30 Biergarten ADR, then head to AK for Rivers of Light if it's open by the time we go.
Friday: MK (EMH am), HS (EMH pm). Add 'Ohana here and cancel Plaza? Or keep Plaza? I feel like since they are two good EMHs today, we will want to eat more substantially earlier? Maybe try Kona Cafe since it's a CS?
Saturday: AK (EMH am), MK pm. Keep our Be Our Guest ADR, but Boma breakfast would also fit well here if we don't do it earlier.

As you may be able to tell from my notes (or have read from other posts), I am ALL about skipping the heat of the day and hanging out at the resort. I moved to WA to escape hot weather, so I don't relish hanging out in hot humidity with crowds. DH feels similarly, DSIL can sometimes power through a whole day. I get up at 3:15 am for work. I don't like getting up early, but once I am up - I'm up. Early morning at a park is one of my favorite times of day! Staying out late (or late for Disney) also works for me. I'm awful at napping, but just resting a bit at the resort restores me very well.

As a group, we do make it a 'thing' to try new places when we travel together. DSIL is still wrestling with the idea of skipping 'Ohana in favor of Boma (though we could certainly do both). If we skip 'Ohana, our only repeat restaurant from the last trip is Biergarten, though DH and I want to get escargot at Chefs de France.

I've made this confession before: I loathe Beauty and the Beast. I have never been able to make it past the first number in the animated film because Belle's voice is SO ANNOYING to me. I know. I am well in the minority with this opinion, clearly. When DSIL wanted to go to Be Our Guest on our last trip, she knew I wasn't 'enthusiastic' about it. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get an ADR last time. This time, she was able to snag an ADR on our last night AND I'm even excited about it! Why the change of heart? Ever since they announced the casting of the live action Beauty and the Beast, I have been ALL ABOUT IT! Emma Watson, Dan Stevens (!!!), Ewan MacGregor (!!!!!!!!), Josh Gad, Emma Thompson, Kevin Kline, Stanley Tucci... I could go on but suffice it to say, I am anxiously awaiting this film.

126 Days!!!

Let's talk Souvenirs...

On our last trip, I was a touch Disney Drunk and A LOT Harry Potter Hungry. For the half-day we spent at Universal, I spent A LOT of money. I got a wand, a Time Turner keychain, ALL the candy (most for gifts) and had to restrain myself from all the blank books (which I am a total sucker for anywhere) and t-shirts and everything else I wanted. DH got a Thanos figurine in the Marvel section. I also got family Dr. Seuss t-shirts for my sister, her husband and their two kids. Whew!

At the World, I bought a gift for everyone in my immediate family (including more for my sister and her family), DH's mom, some co-workers and the friends who took care of our cat. That doesn't even touch what we bought ourselves: Haunted Mansion decorative pillow, a small Yeti, a Sulley holding Mike stuffie, my Wampa hat, 2 Build-a-Droids, lightsaber keyrings for the three of us, Star Wars figures, matching t-shirts for the three of us, and after getting drenched on POTC, new socks for DH and a warmer t-shirt for me.

This time, I am going to reign myself in. We're not going to Universal, so that will save a fair bit off what we spent on the last trip. DH will definitely be getting Star Wars stuff, but since our home is practically furnished in Star Wars, I don't really worry about that. Personally, here's my list for myself:

- Pick a pearl and setting. Pearl is my birthstone, so I am pretty excited about this one.
- Memento Mori ghost portraits of DH and me, plus a frame.
- A giant mug. I love giant mugs for soup or oatmeal or what have you. None really sung to me on our last trip, but I live in hope.

I will definitely be getting gifts for the family again and of course for our friends who will cat-sit. For my mom, my brother and sister, I am hoping they have some Three Caballeros merchandise, especially since they just added the animatronics. Alice in Wonderland, The Three Caballeros and The Sword in the Stone are our special family movies. Alice is so popular, I'm usually getting them something from that catergory. My fingers are crossed hard that I can get something from one of the other movies.

125 Days!!! I moved around some ADRs - and noticed I had some mistakes in the previous tentative one.

Arrival Day: Stick with original plan
Sunday: HS (EMH am) lunch at Mama Melrose, Raglan Road Dinner
Monday: AK (EMH am), MK (EMH pm) No ADR yet. Maybe The Plaza?
Tuesday: Epcot Day!! Spice Road Table ADR still. It's a late one, so we can try to get seats for IllumiNations, if possible.
Wednesday: sleep in morning, breakfast at BOMA, MK EMH pm
Thursday: EP (EMH am) AK pm. 4:30 Biergarten ADR (fingers crossed that Rivers of Light starts. If not, Disney Springs tonight.
Friday: MK (EMH am), HS (EMH pm). Moved 'Ohana here since it's on the monorail. It worked well for us last time to do the EMH at MK, enjoyed late breakfast.
Saturday: AK (EMH am), MK pm. Be Our Guest dinner.

111 days!!

I had the craziest Disney dream last night. We were there! I looked at my SIL and said, "We never made our 60 day FP+ reservations!" She looked at me like I was crazy and said we didn't need reservations. (Clearly I was dreaming!) The park was practically empty, but there were other people there. Our first ride was Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, but the queue involved climbing up portions of the track in addition to wending our way through the normal barriers. The ride itself was normal, but then we had to climb/queue back down the way we came.

And then in turned into my spy in a cat-suit dream. ::laughing:: Weird night!

Only one dining change so far. We are going to Kona instead of 'Ohana. I am so excited to try Tonga Toast!! The jury is out on whether we will get The Samoan. None of us care for poached eggs, but I do enjoy runny yolks over meat. I'm of the opinion that we just puncture the poached egg and get rid of the egg white, but we shall see.

Enough about food! Let's talk clothes!!

On our last trip, I noticed I was MUCH happier when I was in skirts and dresses than in jean shorts/pedal pushers. I found these awesome lace tops that went a long way toward keeping me cool, but skirts/dresses were MUCH more effective. The last time we went, I was a member of Gwynnie Bee and brought a few sundresses from them with me. I liked them, but they weren't quite what I wanted. Since the awesome lace tops were found on Amazon, I went back there to look for skirts - and found SKIRTS! I want to post a picture, but Flickr is not working right now. I will try my best to describe them.

They're silk, like sari material. There are two layers of complementing fabrics, one shorter than the other. They're 'magic', in that you can tie them multiple ways for different looks. I got a pack of 5 skirts for $35!! I was a bit nervous because you don't get to pick which 5 they send you, but I got lucky in that there was only one that wasn't 'me', and I gave that one to my SIL (it was pink & purple, definitely her colors more than mine). I was also excited that they fit really well! I got Undersummers to go underneath so I don't worry about chafing or giving anyone a show getting on and off rides.

My SIL gave me 4 dresses as well. She'd ordered two and didn't like the way they fit her and had me try them on. They're both maxi dresses, which I LOVE and the fabrics are lovely. One is a light colored tropical print and the other is black with multi-colored splashes all over. I call that one my fireworks dress. She also gave me two sleeveless dresses (one black, one purple) that she didn't wear anymore. All I need is a couple more solid color tees and tanks and I am all set for vacation clothes!! Woo-hoo!

Hey, I am really enjoying your PTR so far. I was going to go at the end of May but it feel through so we are planning a 2017 trip. Didn't stop me from starting my PTR. lol
Those skirts sound beautiful. I can't wait to see a picture of them.

Thanks for following along!! Sorry your 2016 trip fell through, but I am glad you're still planning!!

104 days!!!

Okay, here are the skirts and dresses. My photos don't really do them justice, but you can get an idea of what I am working with:

I didn't upload the purple and black dresses, but they are just simple, solid color dresses. I am looking forward to being cool and comfy on this trip!

In our continued exploration of all WDW has to offer, I love to watch reviews and POV ride videos/hotel walk-throughs. Our latest viewing was of The Boathouse at Disney Springs, complete with the S'mores Baked Alaska. Screenshot from disneyeveryday.com:

Is this not the most ridiculous thing... in a good way? DSIL is a big fan of mile-high mud pies, DH loves Rocky Road ice cream and I will eat toasted marshmallows whenever available. I offered to cancel our dinner at Raglan Road in favor of this, so we will see what happens. It is a Signature restaurant, so we would either need to go OOP or skip another planned TS for the extra credit. Something to think on, at any rate. We could also just go there for dessert one night.

May just doesn't seem that far away anymore, but there are still 44 days until we can start booking FP+. EEEEEEEE! Excuse my excitement!

96 Days! We're under three digits now! Only 36 until we can make FP+ reservations and it will feel real!!

It's been a fair bit un-Disney-ish around our home for a while. First, I got a new boss that has already made a terrible impression on my very small team - to the point that one person has put in for a transfer, another has already started interviewing, and I've decided that if they are still my boss in May - I will be looking for a new job. Second, we got fleas for the first time ever. I've had pets since I was a little kid but had never even seen a flea in real life, so it took a minute to recognize my poor kitty's symptoms. Thank goodness for Google! Took her to the vet for flea meds, got the apartment under control and did boatloads of blanket laundry. She is finally starting to act like the floor isn't lava anymore, so we take that as a good sign. Finally, my poor husband got pneumonia. A friend of ours who is currently living in China had asked if he could stay with us for a couple days before he went to Portland, OR and then to Lima, Peru. He got sick before he left (cold/fever), which he then passed on to D. D was feeling awful for a few days, then was on the mend but still had an awful cough for a couple of weeks. He FINALLY went to the doctor, got on antibiotics and after 4 days off from work is finally feeling better. Whew!

I continue on in my Disney planning. I will be getting new shoes for D and myself fairly soon so we can start breaking them in for WDW. D is a socks and shoes kinda guy, so he ALWAYS wears sneakers in the parks. This did not go well last time when they decided to put the three of us in the front row of a PoTC boat and the whole bow submerged under water after the first plunge and we were drenched. He had to buy new socks then and there because he would have been REALLY unhappy, otherwise. After that, he's not excited about ANY water rides for this next trip, even though we've offered to pack flip flops in one of our bags so he can change before and after. We'll see how it goes.

I, on the other hand, hate wearing socks and only do so when I absolutely have to. Last time, I alternated between Keen Whispers and Clarks Morse Tour sandals (and since they are well broken in, they are coming again). I could go for at least one, maybe two more pairs of shoes. Shoe fatigue is the worst! I am thinking either a different style of Keens (perhaps Venice or Rose), or maybe getting a pair of Jambu's that looks a bit dressier but still comfy. If anyone has tips on shoes they like for the parks, I am all ears!

I will have to be thinking about my manicure/pedicure strategy for the trip as well as the plan for my hair. Since I type so much, I like the Shellac manicures, but they take at least three times before my nails look exactly the way I want them (in terms of length/strength). I'll do the pedicure a bit earlier than I did last time, as the pedicurist bruised my cuticle and it didn't show up until I was walking in the airport on our way to Florida. For my hair, I like it to be long enough to pull back in a ponytail when I'm in hot weather. Just short hair doesn't keep me as cool (I am sure that's psychosomatic). I want to play with color and really love all the new color trends. Maybe multi-colored pastel ombre? Or opalescent color? I'm excited to try!!

Exactly three months from today I will be at WALT DISNEY WORLD!! Specifically, HERE:

I bought the last new clothes for the trip yesterday. My new shoes arrive Tuesday. I am well prepared! Now, I'm starting to map out days. Got my handy-dandy little Excel spreadsheet going, broken down by the half-hour. NOW, no one knows better than I that plans WILL change based on weather/mood/whim, but this helping while away the long days between now and then.

What's surprising me is how potential FP really do affect the rest of your day. And also how going by just park hours is just so bare bones! Still, not to bore anyone with the minutiae, here's how things are fleshing out - in broad strokes.

Arrival Day: Still same plan, haven't decided if we're going to eat first or DHS first. It will probably depend on where our FPs end up.

Sunday: HS (EMH am), trying to ride ToT and RnRC while it's not crowded. Well, I won't be riding RnRC and Melissa won't be riding ToT, so D will take turns with each of us. Early lunch at Mama Melrose. Mid-day break at the resort, head to Disney Springs for shopping and Raglan Road Dinner.

Monday: AK (EMH am). Ride EE as many times in a row as possible. Do the DinoLand side (Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl) and Finding Nemo show. Lunch at Flame Tree Barbecue. Mid-day break at the resort. Head to MK. We have an ADR at The Plaza. I think this is a good night to do Tomorrowland, especially since we did not go on Space Mountain last trip and he's really anxious to ride it again.

Tuesday: Epcot Day!! This looks like it's going to naturally work as a sleep-in morning as it's the day we plan to Eat Around the World for Flower & Garden. Currently, we still have the Spice Road Table ADR, but we might cancel it since we'll have loads of outdoor kitchens to visit. Only rides we're planning are the Gran Fiesta in Mexico and if the Frozen ride is open, we'll do that.

Wednesday: sleep in morning, breakfast at BOMA OR we might change this to a late breakfast at Tusker House. We'll do FOTLK, Kiliminjaro Safari and Kali River Rapids, It's Tough to be a Bug. If Rivers of Light is open, we'll probably stay here, then finish the night at EMH at MK.

Thursday: EMH at Future World, when we'll do Test Track, Mission Space, Spaceship Earth, Turtle Talk with Crush and The Seas with Nemo. I also want to visit Club Cool (have never been) and if Soarin' is open again - all bets are off. We moved Biergarten from early dinner to lunch. This is another night where we could do Rivers of Light, especially if we want to more rides at MK the night before.

Friday: MK (EMH am), where we'll do as much of Fantasyland as we can before the hordes arrive. Cancelled 'Ohana in favor of Kona Cafe. It's EMH at DHS that night, so after a break we'll head over there. D discovered the Fantasmic! dinner package, so we've booked Hollywood Brown Derby (it was the only reservation we could get). I am kind of excited about it, but we got a super early dinner time. I am going to keep an eye out for cancellations as we get closer. Since it's a Signature restaurant, cancelling our ADR at Spice Road Table gives us the extra TS we need for HBD, but we could also just pay out of pocket for The Plaza since it's relatively inexpensive.

Saturday: AK (EMH am)- We might just be going here so we can ride EE repeatedly, then head over for a fuller day at MK. Maybe a break, maybe not. Be Our Guest dinner at 6. If they haven't cancelled FPs for Wishes, I very much want one. It's our last night and we fly out crazy early on Sunday.

Whew! This is so much FUN!!!

I want to leave you with this picture D caught of the parade. I love Tink's expression so much!

84 Days!!!! 84 Days!!!

This post was initially going to be about our excitement that they've finally released the Flower & Garden 2016 information, but then Melissa posted the Disney Parks Blog story about the NEW NIGHTTIME STAR WARS SPECTACULAR!!

Click here if you haven't read it already:
https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/b...me-park-history/?CMP=SOC-FBPAGE20160219163000

The last time we were in the world, we left the week before Star Wars Weekends started. Literally every cast member we met noticed what a big Star Wars fan Derrick is and asked if we were going. So when Melissa asked if we wanted to go with her again, he asked if we could go during Star Wars Weekends.

Like everyone else, we nervously awaited the date announcement for SWW 2016. Melissa didn't want to wait until too close to our 180 days to book the trip, so she waited as long as she felt comfortable with, then finally pulled the trigger. We found out shortly after that they were cancelled and debated changing our dates. Everything felt like such a gamble! We ended up sticking with our original dates since they work better for our schedules. It's been a roller coaster of emotions ever since (at least as far as Star Wars goes).

First, they added Seasons of The Force. Then they changed the name of Seasons of the Force to Star Wars Awakens at DHS. We've been anxiously awaiting if the Star Wars: Symphony in the Stars fireworks show would remain at DHS while we were there. Our fingers and toes have been crossed that we would get to taste Star Wars treats in May. Now, there are even more questions?? Will the stage show beginning April 4th still be there when we go? Will Captain Phasma and the Stormtroopers still be on the occasional march? DOES 'THIS SUMMER' MEAN MAY OR DOES IT MEAN JUNE?

Ohhh, the emotions!!

Hello Linda!! I meant to find your PTR waaaaaaaaay back in Jan. when you commented on my TR, but I've been bad and am only finding it now :o But I'm finally here :goodvibes Your trip is so close now, YAY!

That magic shot of your DH with Tink is priceless :thumbsup2 Glad you decided to give Boma a try for breakfast! DH and I ate there for breakfast for the first time on our adults-only trip in January. He thought is was just ok (he's not a huge breakfast person) but I absolutely LOVED it and am dying to go back. While the food at 'Ohana is good, there's such a variety at Boma and some different offerings you won't get anywhere else. Hope you enjoy!

Your skirts/dresses are pretty :) You have to wear whatever makes you comfortable, especially when it starts getting hot down there. The first time we did a summer trip I took some suggestions from the Boards and did exercise clothes/moisture wicking skorts and tanks (but let me just point out, I do NOT exercise lol) and found that they were wonderful in the humid, sticky, disgusting Aug. heat.

So sorry about your boss :sad2: Hope it gets better! And the fleas.....luckily we haven't had them in years now, but when older DS13 was 2 we had them BAD. We had 3 cats at the time and our whole house was carpeted which makes it a lot harder to de-flea! Luckily DH and DS never got bitten but I was covered in tiny pink bites. Now I do everything I can so that never ever happens again!

Hey! Thanks for making it over here! I just got caught up on both your TRs to date. Thanks for all the inspiration!

That magic shot of your DH with Tink is priceless :thumbsup2

Isn't it? I wish you could have seen how excited he was to ask the Photopass CM to take that picture...and how delighted she was to take it!

Thanks! I AM really looking forward to it, but I love all things breakfast. We are also doing Kona breakfast and I think we are also going to get some Sleepy Hollow waffle sandwiches on our last day.

Thanks for the boss sympathy. It's unfortunately not getting any better, but I have decided to stick it out until October so I complete two years in this position and also don't mess up my 2016 vacation plans.
As for the fleas, we also have carpeting throughout but they haven't gotten past the living room. We got Advantage for our poor kitty and have been treating the living room carpet with applications of Borax and now diatomaceous earth to get rid of them once and for all. Then in the midst of all this, D fell at work and cut his head and had to get seven staples. He's on the mend now.

63 Days!!! Only three more until FP+ reservations!!

Let's talk treats! I fear my eyes are bigger than my stomach when it comes right down to it. I don't have a huge appetite when it's hot out, but still - there are so many yummy things that are intriguing me! I know we barely scratched the surface last time. I ate at the resort food court more last time because it was convenient. Not again!

I am really looking forward to our World Showcase day. 12 hours in the park with plenty of places to hang out outside as well as cooler places to duck into if needed. I really think D and Melissa are going to be hard-pressed to drag me out of France, but I will try to be good.

Here is my try-not-to-miss list (most of this will be shared, especially on World Showcase day):

Spicy Hot Dog with Pineapple Chutney - Pineapple Promenade
Frozen Desert Violet Lemonade - Pineapple Promenade
Jerk-Spice Chicken - La Isla Fresca

If there are still any Star Wars treats when we go...

Tonight's the night! My 60 day FP window opens tonight at midnight EST! At least I think it does...no harm in trying!

Just wanted to share something funny today. On Sundays, I prepare my breakfasts and lunches for the week. I get up for work at 3:15a and leave at 4:30a and I do not enjoy eating that early, so I take both meals to work.

I do better with a higher protein breakfast, so I will alternate weeks so I don't get sick of things. Some weeks it's egg sandwiches, this week it's chia seed pudding. Last week, I made it with soy milk, Greek yogurt, chia seeds and a bit of jam. This week, I made it with coffee soy milk, honey Greek yogurt, chia seeds and cocoa powder.

I opened it this morning and just about died laughing. I made my own Grey Stuff!
It looks horrifying, but is actually delicious!

Sometimes, I really love living on the West Coast. I made all our FP+ tonight at 9:00 PST/midnight EST. Still some minor tweaking to do, but overall I am VERY happy with what we got! Will have a longer update when I have everything locked down!

I have to say "Eeeeww" to how your breakfast looks lol, but I believe you when you say it was delicious! I'm pretty much always hungry but I don't know if I'd want to eat breakfast every morning that early, either.

Yay on the FP's! I almost always tweak mine after initially making them and don't have trouble, except sometimes if I'm trying to change around one for 7DMT. I'm actually usually moving them around up till a week before we go!
