Me too. I never understood how she could stand him. Ewwww! She's a beautiful, capable woman with a fine career if she wants it and he's a has been action hero. No doubt she's tired of his shennanigans.

We ran into them years ago in Solvang over a weekend. They drove different cars and parked next to each other and didn't seem to be getting along. It was just so strange to me. It wasn't like a normal couple bickering, they were just two separate entities. It was then I projected thoughts that maybe they were together for different reasons. Then, a few years later, he announced his intentions for the governor's office. Since then, though, they seemed to be together as a team.

I just find them odd.

Why now after 25 years?

Her dad died in January. Sometimes the death of a parent, especially the first few months to the first full year, really makes people make major changes and decisions about their lives. Some are good, some ultimately are ones where the person says, "What was I thinking? I was out of my mind to make that decision." Time will tell whether Maria has made the right choice or whether they will get back together.

Maria has often said, (before Arnold ran for Gov.,) that she never wanted to marry a politician or anyone headed that way. That's why she married an actor/bodybuilder. Maybe his stint at Gov. really proved to her how right her original desire was. She was pretty much forced into being the First Lady of CA, and had to give up her career as a journalist for NBC, for Arnold's overriding ambition to be governor. Maybe she realized how selfish he was in not taking her needs into account and had enough.

I had read that she and the kids never really moved into the governor's mansion and if so, they have been more or less separated for years at this point. I don't know if that's true any more than I know that the numerous allegations of his cheating are true or that the stories that he ruled her life with an iron fist are true, down to choosing what she wore.

But I always thought them an odd couple. I also felt bad that she said she deliberately did not marry a politician, but then he decided to go into politics. Bait and switch which then ended up killing her news career. It's my guess she agreed to stay with him until he was done being governor and the kids were older (the youngest is 14) and then said, "I'm outta here."

LOL..could it be she is from the Kennedy family..democrats to the core and he is one of just a few public Republicans in Hollywood?

I always thought it was nice that they were together despite political differences. Maria is a classy lady and I like Arnold. I just find it sad that after so long together they are separating. I doubt that it is the political differences separating them but who knows.
