My 7 yo DS's Orthopedist wanted me to find out if he would have any restrictions either on land rides or at either water park if he was still in his arm cast when we went to Disney. He broke his arm 2 weeks ago and right now is in a long arm cast. He might still be in it when we go...(hopefully not!) It also might be cut down to a short arm cast.... or off completely. We are playing a wait and see game.

Does anyone know if WDW will not allow a child on any particular ride or on anything at the TL or BB if they are in a cast? Or does anyone know who I should contact to ask this question? TIA!!! :goodvibes

I have never heard of a ride where Disney has turned someone away for being in a cast. As long as the safety restraint can be fastened, everything should be good. At least in the parks. I have no idea about the water parks.

Spring 2008. We had our WDW trip planned for the last week in April with 7 of us in a d2 bedroom at OKW our favorite resort. It is mid march and the weather is horid. We live in the northeast. I need to go out to do groceries. DS20 is home studying for a class. DS18 is on his way out the door. DD12 says she doesn't want to go with me to do groceries. DD has some LD so I make sure DS knows she is staying home and please keep an ear open. DD decided to make popcorn. Pretty normal. I am bringing in groceries from car and I hear a high pitched screach. I race inside to find her hysterical and DS standing there looking at me with that blank look that guys get when they know they messed up. DD decided to melt butter to go with the popcorn instead of waiting for help. Didn't realize the container would be so hot. Hot melted butter had run down her forearm. Entire arm had second degree burns. After they cleaned her up in the ER and she finaly calmed down enough her first question was : "Will I be able to go swimming when we go to Disney?" I changed her dressings diligentlyey every day for 3 weeks. After all of that I finally found an air cast that we ordered online. It went over her dressings and she was able to go in the water and it STAYED DRY. Two of her favorite water rides were Kali River Rapids at AK and Splash Mountain in MK and never a problem. It kind of encased her arm in a plastic buble. I will have to ask DH if he remembers where we got it. DS still hasn't forgiven himeself for the whole thing and DD only has a very faint scar that you really have to look to see. (Dr. is amazed at that one. )
