Hi all :)

Has anyone bought, or know someone who has bought, an Aries computer? How good they are depends on the specs I know, but in general, does anyone have any feedback on this company?

TIA!

Hiya Shirley,

Sorry, I have not used them, but.....

Just to say I finally got the Dell pc that we were on about ages ago.
Its brilliant, I think we got a good deal. We got a one similar to this Here
All I had to do was plug it in and that was it...:)
Great service etc...I think we will be buying dell a little more often.

Hi Michelle :) - thank you!

Yes, a lot of people rate Dell, particularly business-wise they are highly thought of, aren't they?

Someone found a good deal for an Aries and recommended it to me so I thought I'd get some feedback but DH is also suggesting Dell :)

We are going to Orlando in October and are thinking of buying a computer ( probably a lap-top ) - but we are wondering if there will be any difficulty in using a computer bought in USA on the UK power system ??? can anyone help ?

Funnily enough I noticed this thread yesterday and then BIL came over today and said how good Aries computers are! :sunny:
He's a big computer buff - builds his own and designs websites etc
He brought up the website for them and said 'go for it' :goodvibes

hi, I'm just lurking around this site because I love the UK, and I apologize for the intrusion. I got some info about the Orlando area when I had Seaworld tickets sent to me. Looking through the brochures, there were listings from stores selling items (computers, cameras, electronics) for UK applications. Additionally my ex-BIL (a Brit from Cormwall) brought to my attention that computers are actually designed for battery power source - hence the converters on all the power cords, maybe this makes for a simple conversion to other power sources.
Knowing the US voltage vs UK, you'll probably get better/faster processing from computers using UK voltage.

I don't know about anyone else but I haven't the fainest idea what you just said momo2dk but then it is very late here (1.45am) and my brain's not fully working.

In answer to the question - I couldn't say about Aries computers although I have heard of them. As far as whether a laptop would work or not I was told early tonight by the owner of one of the houses we will be renting next year that his laptop works and he just plugs it into an ordinary adapter. It would imagine though that having to work harder would eventually burn the transformer out.

Anne, you will probably find the power adapter supplied with the laptop will handle a voltage range that covers US and UK mains. Even if it doesn't you should be able to get a UK power adapter that will do the job when you get back home. The keyboard layout may be slightly different as well (probably no Pound or Euro keys etc.)
You also need to check the warranty and make sure the laptop comes with an international one.

You will also need to watch out when you return through customs with the new laptop. If you don't declare it and get stopped it could work out to be an expensive laptop :)

Hi

Aries Computers are made by Savastore. Savastore were formally called Watford Electronics and have been trading since the early 80's.

There are no problems with their PC's so I think you will be fine buying from Savastore.

Regards

Paul
