So is Ariels Grotto a buffet for dinner or is it just a regular order from the menu type of deal? Just curious. Thanks. :confused3

There is a menu, no buffet unless you could the 3 tiered platter you get when you sit down. :) It has jello, cheeses, veggies, salami, and a salad on the bottom, you share off that and then you each get your own meal and then you get a dessert platter full of yummy goodness. :)

With the new menu, it is definatley nicer. Dh loves the BB as we eat there atleast twice each trip. But he now loves Ariel's new menu better! Of the character meals, I would definately say it's "nicer" as you have no macarana going on and the princesses make it around in an orderly fashion in one swoop and they are done. And it is table service not buffet which makes it a bit nicer

It is a very nice dinner and as with all DLR park restaurants you can get fancy or wear park attire. For a little privacy ask for a booth in a corner. I am hypersensitive, food issues, and allergies so for me this is one of the best park places to eat.

Thanks! This helps a lot. So the characters are there at both the breakfast, lunch and dinner?

The characters are there for every meal. :) And yes, it's more a "formal" atmosphere, altho they did teach the girls how to bow like a Princess when we were there last. :) That was the only "game" they played, at other places the games are more noisy and slightly annoying. LOL :)

I think it was Mechurchlady who so kindly posted a wonderful list of the current menu items at Ariel's in a recent thread - but to be honest, there are so many character meal threads on DIS (regularly) that I forget which one it was to be able to refer you to it to look at the food selection! I know I had my eye on a nice chicken breast meal and/or a tasty-looking pasta dish.

Mechurchlady, you don't, by any chance, still have that menu rundown from Ariel's do you??:goodvibes

Its a GREAT Character meal!
you order off the menu, but you do share the appetizer. Order the Magic Star Drink. It comes with a light up cube and the drink is delicious!!! yum!
My DD loves the prinesses!!! and the food is good too! :cheer2:

Sherry, DBF had the ciopinno when we ate there, I had pasta and OMG, it was soooooo good...I didn't want to share! lol

Ariel's Grotto does serve breakfast now. I think they did a trial run a while ago, but it's permanent now.

The breakfast at Ariel's Grotto is "family style" (no menus). Your table gets a portion of sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs and potatoes. There's also the fruit/cheese/pastry tiered tray at your table.
We thought it was great and there was more than enough food to go around... we had leftovers and they were more than happy to bring a bag and containers for us to take our leftovers away with. We just popped it in our fridge at the hotel and had it for a later meal. :-)

edit: oops forgot... when we were there almost 2 weeks ago we were also given a large waffle with whip cream and blueberries/raspberries. The waiter told us it was a new addition. It was yummy! No leftovers of that one...

I don't believe Ariel's Grotto serves breakfast though:tinker:

They do, we ate there right after they started doing breakfast, we first went to AG breakfast on December 15th 2007 for DD's 8th bday. :) No waffles then, YUMMMMYY!!!!! :)

Sorry I just went off the Disneyland website, my bad. They really need to update that website, The astro orbitor isn't even being shown as closed for refurbishment.
