I found menus yesterday and decided to change our character dining from Goofy's Kitchen to Ariel's Grotto. The only snafu is that there are no PS arrangements open for the day we wanted to go (Feb 26). Has anyone gone there without PS arrangements? How long is the wait on a Sunday evening? Can we give them our name and then go ride something and come back and check on it or do we have to wait the whole time? Thanks for your help.

The only time we ever tried this (a Tuesday at dinnertime) they told us that they were full. But, it's always worth a shot!

Keep calling them everyday until the 26th and check to see if they have any openings. I have read some reports/reviews from people on the Dis who have been able to get a table without a PS. Can´t remember who though. Maybe they read this and can offer some tips.
Good luck!!!

We tried walk up last Friday, Feb 10th at about 1:30 and couldn't get in. It didn't look full at all but we weren't seated.

That's too bad 72Steve. We always try to make priority seating arrangement for numerous restaurants just in case. We work our day into what PS are available incase we didn't get the day/time slot that we wanted. It beats having to wait in a long line with hungry and tired children. I hope your kids weren't disaappointed.

Keep calling...

If you can not get reservations....go to the restaurant as soon as it opens and make reservations with the cast member standing outside. They usually have openings for walk-ups for the day. I have done this several times at different restaurants (since I am local and sometimes don't bother calling ahead of time). The fastest turn-around was getting a PS an hour and a half from the time I walked up. :) You have to use the correct wording though. If you ask for a table...they will say they are full. As for a PS later in the day and they will look for any openings.

I have actually called dining while walking to the restaurant to make ressies. On the phone, they were full and 5 minutes later they had openings for PS for the same time.

This is not a method that ALWAYS works, but it is worth a shot. Waiting in line at Ariel's grotto is not fun and I refuse to do it.

With the princesses there, there are fewer seatings. They do not seat tables throughout the hours. Tables are cycled in order to accommodate the character interactions in the Grotto. Seatings begin at 11:30 and follow in 90 minute intervals. We were there several weeks ago and even though the tables were not full, inquiring parties were told that the seatings were booked. The only availability offered was a seating at 2:30. I would only do this one with a PS.
