I just made reservations for Ariel's Grotto for our trip in March. DH won't eat any of the food they serve, can he come and just have coffee and not pay the full price of the meal? Or are we stuck paying?

Well, sorry to say that you're stuck paying if he wants to go in with you all. Is it a diet restriction or picky eater? If it's restrictions due to medical issues, you can let them know in advance and they will prepare the meal specifically for him. Now, I'm super picky and I can still find a few things that I like there.

It's all self imposed, and he's gotten to the point where he doesn't even trust a dry salad at the restaurant. I originally made the resevations for breakfast but since that's family style all you can eat from what I've read we really won't see any "extra" food from him not eating, so maybe I'll change it to lunch then we (FIL, DD, and myself) can have whatever he's not eating....

My husband LOVED the breakfast there (weird, said it was the best meal he had there!) It was okay for me - lots to choose from and the kids can get cereal too if you ask.

Hmmm....would he go with recommendations from others? I order the same thing every time because of my picky habits and it not being my favorite food at DL (but a must with a little girl!) Did he have a food poisoning experience? Will he at least eat his dessert?

He's put himself on this no sugar, low carb, no white flour, no fat diet. Like I said he wont' even eat a dry salad at a restaurant anymore (he eats the same thing every day, I don't know how he does it). Now I really need to decide if it's worth the money or not......

I guess I have to appreciate his work on a diet like that - I don't have the willpower to go to those lengths (in particular on vacation...lol.)

Well, if he is interested in seeing your kids there and watching the experience - hands down worth every penny. If he's not into that - maybe you can just go with your kids alone and have special time. I can promise to me and my husband that experience is worth any food you can't stand or don't eat! I've cried in that restaurant on a few occassions, just the reaction from the kids is more than enough for me!

Completely fat free and flour free...not quite sure I can recommend anything there that will fit the bill for him. Not sure I could find much anywhere with that. I do think they have green beans on some of the meals, but I can't confirm how they're cooked - I assume a little oil or butter though.

I'd just figure out if going to see your kids will be good for him and leave the eating part out of it.
