Arghhhh Teeth.....Updated news

I have had root canal treatment twice, a few years ago now, and neither dentist gave me any anaesetic

You poor thing! My one and only root canal (so far) was on a tooth that needed to be crowned and it was absolute agony. The surgeon gave me five shots of anaesthetic, and it still wouldn't numb up properly. He then ended up having to shoot directly into each nerve; it was sheer torture. To top it all off, the dang thing got infected a few days later.

Since that time, I pay a little extra so that I can get "happy gas" whenever I get my teeth worked on--even for cleanings. It works really good if you stay up late the night before, get the gas, and put some ear phones on with some good tunes. I've even fallen asleep.

Maybe we should put a list of dentists to avoid on here!!!!!LOL

I've had my one here since I moved to Leamington and he is brilliant - he lets the kids run around whilst I'm having my teeth lokked at and has loads of toys everywhere. He's also the only dentist who hasn't done something everytime I visit, just a clean every time.

He also pointed out that my last dentist had left the root of one of my molars behind when she ever so kindly extracted it after letting me know as I was on Family Tax Credit I could get a bridge done for nowt. Hahaha, then after the tooth was out she said - oh no, I didn't say that.... £500 please if you want a bridge. Needless to say I still have a gap.

I have a terrible phobia about dentists as when I lived in london, needed an emergency dentist on a Sunday(15 years ago). I had to pay £50 cash up front and he numbed me up, sent me back to the waiting room until it wore off and then tried to get out the wisdom tooth(abscess and all) ....much screaming later gave me another coupl of jabs. I was stood at the chemists waiting for my painkillers and antbs and the pahrmacist asked me to please wipe my neck and chin as I was scaring the customers - blood everywhere and I couldn't feel it. I was in agony for days, my own dentist later told me i could have got septicaemia from him pulling at it without getting the absecc down with antibs first and as it was i got a major infection that made me look like chipndale.

Ok everyone winced enough now??

Sam - glad it's sorted, now enjoy your hols.

Mazzy - too much information on yours about the needles ;) . . in need of a quick trip to brush me teeth to make them feel better now:D

A few years ago I had an infection under a tooth. The Neurofen didn't touch the pain at all. My dentist reccommended Veganin and I must admit it made a big difference - the pain didn't go completely but enough that I could eat something.

Flippin' eck Elise yes I am felling icky.

I've had only 2 problems. My first one was when I was being cast for a brace - train tracks. I can't breathe too well through my nose so having a gob full of mould stuff meant I couldn't breathe. As I was figeting ans I couln't breathe she got an assistent to hold me down. Got and arm free my mum saw and by the time they got it out of my mouth my lips were blue and I nearly passed out. My mum belted her. Go mum!!

Secomd time I was having some teeth out and when they gave me the anesthetic it got in to my bloodstream the wrong way and lost my sight for 4 hours. 1 in a 10000000 chance apprently.

I hate dentists but have found a good one.

Nic hadn't been to the dentist for 8 years and when he went recently he had to only have a scale and polish. The dentist said even though he lives on sugary drinks eats all the wrong thing etc it was his toothpaste that was keeping his teeth healthy.

The toothpaste is called ENAMEL ON and is available form Walgreens in the USA. Buy it my whole family now use it and NONE of them have had a major problems.

So sorry its soooo long.
