****Well we found out that the "vacation club" we joined was a scam so we took advantage of our 3 days to cancel and cancelled our membership. We will be staying as planned at ASMu this year. If anyone receives an invitation from Global Vacation Networks and would like some honest information before you go, feel free to contact me. I have the membership book here that I can share. It is not the same info you will hear from a sales rep.***

We are all booked and set for our first stay onsite this August. We have a family suite as well as an additional room booked with fd, upgraded to ddp. The kids are soooo excited about staying onsite (as am I).:goodvibes

So last night dh and I went to a vacation company presentation with the goal of getting our free trip and being out of there. Well, we loved the company and ended up joining. So now I have to figure out the best plan for our trip. We could keep our ressies but we could switch to Sheraton Vistana 2 bedroom and it would only cost us $159 for the week. I am leaning towards keeping the ressies since dh (15) does not plan to do the parks exactly the same as everyone else. He is planning to sleep in and meet us at the park later. If we stay offsite, this will not be an option. I also know that if we cancel this one, we will probably never stay onsite since we have joined this company. I really want to enjoy the dining plan as well as emh but I think it would be soooo much cheaper to stay offsite and have some meals in the room. The Vistana looks so nice too!! What should I do???:confused3

Let's see...A family suite + another room for free dining, or a 2bdrm that fits all of you for $159. for the week.

I don't know when you are going, so I don't know what kind of rate you got, but I am going to guess that your onsite accommodations will cost you at least $250 per night x 7 nights = $1750, minimum. Your "free" dining just cost you nearly $1600.

Methinks you can feed your group pretty well for that $1600, especially if breakfasts/snacks/drinks are available at the condo.

If transportation is your only concern about staying offsite, I wouldn't worry. I assume you will have a car, right? If so, the rest of your family could take it to the park and your husband can take the pay shuttle over to the park from the Vistana or take a cab. Sounds like the money you would save over staying onsite would outweigh the transportation expenses.

Glad you didn't get ripped off. You can stay at The Sheraton Vistana for around $500 for a 2 bedroom via skyauction.com if you still want to save some cash.
