If it was me, I would just take him along and put him on the rides mentioned. If he does sulk and ruin the day, apply you're admission to a Southern California AP and go without him whenever you feel like it. If you really have not been since '95 you are in for a big suprise at all the changes. Have fun no matter what. Life is too short.
