I know, I know, always, ALWAYS rebook on board right.

On our last B2B I only booked one future cruise - coming from Australia we just can't afford to cruise every year, and we usually can't afford to do multiple cruises at a time, with everything else we try to fit in while we're in the US.

So I booked our one future cruise, planning to use it in January 2017. All good.

Until this week when we find out my daughter's dance school is doing a tour of the US in March/April 2016...and my husband immediately suggested we book a cruise to extend the tour (yay! I thought *I* was the die-hard DCL addict in the family, clearly I'm not alone!).

I've put a hold on a cabin, but trying to work out what to do with my OBB. I assume an April cruise will be more than a mid-January cruise cost wise (assuming all other things equal, eg both 7 days, same ship)? You can't retrospectively apply an OBB can you? Eg I would book my January cruise in October this year when they're released, then when we cruise in April I would have to reshop and compare prices right? I can't just take that 10% off my October booking can I? Thanks...from the person who's kicking themselves for not listening to everyone's advice!

Sorry, I wasn't clear. If I use my OBB for April, which is fine, can I use the new OBB I make in April to retrospectively apply it to the new booking I plan to make in October. Ie. can I add an OBB to an existing reservation or would I need to reshop? My feeling was I'd need to reshop, but just thought I'd check.

You would have reshop. That being said, why not do as other commenters said and switch the OBB for Jan 17 to next April, then do an OBB for Jan 17 while on the April cruise? Seems most economical...

I believe that is exactly what she said she is doing. She's just asking once she does that, how does she then get the Onboard booking benefits on the January 2017 reservation.

Yes, when you are onboard, you will have to reshop your January 2017 booking and make a new reservation, they will not just add the OBB benefits to the reservation you make in October. That being said, January is typically an off-peak time so the rates don't jump as much or as fast as peak times. So you should still get a good deal when reshopping, might just be a little more complicated moving deposit and getting a specific cabin # if you are already holding it (but can be done).
