OK, I've dealt with Dell for years, get frustrated sometimes but they do offer good values on good products. so I put up with the frustration! This is the last draw, I will never order from them no matter how good a deal is...

Ordered Pentax Optio W10 for upcoming vacation, shows instock, usually ship within 24 hours. Then confirmation comes and shows estimated shipping date as 7/19, hello, that's 3 weeks!!! tried to cancel, after numerous bounce around, got a real person (very heavy accent, probably off shore), tells me I can't cancel because it already went to their distributor!! :furious:

Just venting.

Half a decade ago Dell used to have a very good reputation - or so I thought. And I had a Dell notebook with an extended 4 year "complete" warrenty from them. Got my moneys' worth too with a half dozen fixes over the years. Then with only 3 months left on the Notebook I sent it in again for servicing. The screen and/or power kept abrupty failing all of a sudden ... after my 2 YO daughter knocked it over. So they told me the bad news... it was unfixable with a bad motherboard. Oh well.. I mused silently... there goes $2,000+ ... at least I had 4.5 years use out of it. Then after a brief pause the Dell tech casually declared they were going to have to send me an entirely new replacement! I was very surprised. I asked - what about the model and features as my particular model was no longer made! They explained that I would have to get the current model in their line up that most approximates my uld one in their prior lineup. SO I ended up getting a near across the board upgrade. It was faster, had more memory, smaller sized slightly with lighter weight, plus it came with a DVD R/W drive, spare battery as I had originally, BUT... on the negative the screen was not as sharp or bright ... and it was marked a refurb. I say - what the heck - in light of the fact the other one was completely useless... I came out pretty far ahead!

This experience makes me a durable Dell fan ... for the moment. Supply problems aside as that involves distribution as opposed to pure service (what they are known for) ... I would probably encourage others to buy Dell.

Oh yeah... 6 weeks after the more powerful replacement arrived my daughter pried off a key from the keyboard. I called into tech support to complain about the loose key on the keyboard and they sent me a replacement just as the extended warrenty expired. Recently, my daughter pried off another few keys and I bought a replacement keyboard from eBay and it's good as new again. When this one dies - I'll probably buy another Dell (duh) and get their best extended service plan again. :rolleyes1

... wish I knew... All I know is I'm waiting for the youngest one to add another year or so - then I'll be able to communicate with certainty and maybe avoid another keyboard replacement (or worse).

:confused3

OK, Got to give them credit...the camera was delivered this morning. Althought, Dell's site still shows "in process". :confused3

good to know; glad you got your item! They had a decent price on a memory card that I'll probably order from them; it's just a back up, so I don't need it right away (but I do need it by August!). hmmm...

Along with the camera, I also ordered 2 Kingston Elite Pro (2gb CF and 1gb SD) Dell had the best price and those arrived Monday (these two items were tracked on Dell's website).

yeah, that's what I be getting...I'll take care of that now; free shipping thru tomorrow!

I've ordered several dells within a year and they came with included printers that shipped separately. In all cases they shipped before the scheduled ship date. It kind of looks like it's their way to keep complaints down about late shipping. It did back fire on one of the computers. I wanted to make an upgrade change but it shipped already.

I ordered the Kingston card yesterday afternoon and it was shipped by last evening via DHL! So, here's hoping!!! :thumbsup2

My order arrived today!!!! Less than 48 hours after I ordered it from Dell! Little biddy memory card, shipped in great big overpacked box!!! :confused3
