Ares travel

I never booked with Ares travel but if Mousesavers recommends them, I think we can be sure that they are a reputable business.

That being said, I tried to book my tickets through them and after I filled in all my credit card details, the site didn't load anymore. Unsure if the booking went through I waited a few days and called them. The booking didn't go through so I tried again. This time I received a message that my booking can't go through for some reason and I must call them to book over the phone.

Too much hassle for me, so I went to the official Disney website and booked for $5 more, the booking went through straight away and I had the ticket within minutes. For such a small saving I wouldn't bother with Ares again, although if the saving was a lot, I'd call and book over the phone with them.

I've bought from Ares before and had no issues. However, last time I went I bought through Last Minute Travel and got weird looks. I did get my tickets in the end but they wouldn't let me upgrade to a park hopper until the last day.

...It will in the end cheat you and me out of something. This is why I find them unethical and won't use them....
Not Disney. It is cheating me and most Dissers.

skiingfast, I so respect your opinion about all things Disney, could you elaborate on how the vendor taking a loss on profit cheats other visitors? I really want to understand, but I feel like I am missing something.

Do you have to be a member of AAA to get these discounts? I was wondering about that as it would tend to negate any discount once you have paid for an annual membership to that group.

You do have to be a member. I think it would only be a savings if you were a member anyway.

I redeemed my LMT meal certificate for vouchers at the PPH (one of the perks of staying on-site is that you can do that for any vouchers you purchase on-line, we did it in the concierge lounge when we checked in, but you can also do it at guest services) and they didn't give me a second look. They actually commented on my good deal (I watched prices for a bit and got them $5 cheaper than they had been for a couple of months) when they saw the price I paid (there were notes on the page I gave them).

I'm puposely leaving it vague, as the full reasoning could lead to an argument that violates DISboards rules. So I just want to give my two cents and leave it at that.

Weird looks? I've also used LMT twice for PHs and character meal vouchers *awesome prices. The looks may have been because LMT is actually Tourico Travel, so the CM may have been confused, it's not really a big deal.

The CM inside the booth looked at my voucher a few times, like she thought it was fake, then asked another CM if it was okay. They wrote my & my husband's names on the ticket. I asked where I needed to go to upgrade to a AP and she told me that I could not upgrade until the last day of use on my ticket. :( Which of course sucked because I really wanted the AP for the discounts. Unfortunately, after spending our first day in the park (a Friday), our debit card was double-charged for EVERY transaction, (which of course was not refunded until we left) leaving us unable to upgrade, and barely able to get home . No hard feelings though. It probably helped us in the long run.

Yes writing names on tix is typical procedure, nothing odd about that. Upgrading to an AP and having to wait until your last day was a lie and had nothing to do with the who you bought your PHs from. Anyone can upgrade their PH to an AP whenever they feel like it so long as they don't wait too long. I've upgraded to APs twice in the past - usually right after our MM.

If I buy tickets through AAA, do they give me actual passes, or a voucher to exchange at Guest Services? We're not staying at a DL hotel, so it makes a difference. I don't want to waste our precious morning touring time lining up to get our vouchers exchanged!
