Are your state/local parks more crowded due to economy?

Our parks are definitely more busier this year due to the economy. I'm seeing more people/families at our park & beaches. I guess people are doing the staycation this year. How about yours?

After not going camping for five years since we bought our home..., in march we tried to get a reservation. Nothing available until late august!!

SO we are making reso's for next year, at the 11 month prior limit.

Not really noticing that at all. Our city was a ghosttown this week with Toyota shut down for the usual summer vacation.

I do notice the movie theatres and lower cost restaurants are much busier now.

We live IN the city park (dh is parks director), and it has been crazy around here. I sat outside with the baby yesterday afternoon to try to settle her down, and it was so noisy we just came back in. I go to church with a local librarian, and she says the same thing about the library.

I just got back from camping.

Here in MO our camps and parks are always packed for summer as we are a vacation destination for people from all over for camping and floating.

Yep, we've noticed an increase in people at our local parks. More people biking, roller blading, using the pool, etc...

Beaches here are always crowded but there are more people at the movies, restaurants and our local amusement park this year than any other!! Summer camps also booked up quick- I had to switch the weeks that I wanted to send my daughter since by Feb one of the weeks I wanted was already booked up!

We noticed the same thing. The pool we belong to is much more crowded on weekends than in previous years. I think less people are doing weekend getaways. We've been to a few state parks for hiking this summer and we saw more people than we expected to see on weekdays.
