Are your Christmas decorations up yet?

Halloween decorations are up until Nov. 1st. Although I recently purchased a new Christmas tree and some decorations, they won't go up until after Thanksgiving. Just saw on TV one of the stations already starting their Countdown to Christmas programming.

Our stuff usually go up Thanksgiving weekend. In talking with DH this weekend, I realized that in less than 2 weeks we'll be out of town, days after I return, my 82 year old MIL is having surgery and she'll need constant care from us for at least 2 weeks and then partial care thereafter until Christmas. :scared: So, I got one tree out to let it fold out........... I've gotta get a very early start!

I looked at the box and almost considered it :rotfl: I wait till after thanksgiving mostly cause my tree isnt here (up home at moms). BUT I did finish most of my Christmas shopping! (just need a few small things) wanna hear even better? The gifts are all wraped and sorted (christmas eve at g-mas, christmas day, stocking stuffers, and drop offs)

My Dh & I agreed years ago that Christmas decorations had to wait until the day after Thanksgiving. He just can't stand the stuff earlier. Probably, because he is a pharmacist & like Wal-mart one holiday hasn't passed before the next one is set up.

I will admit, I was thinking of putting them up. I probably will do it after Halloween. I want to do things early this year.

I need a little Christmas right now. Plus it will help me "holiday clean" my house. Also I want to get some family pic's taken and get my Christmas cards done. With the passing of dh's mom a few weeks ago, I want to put a little more thought into things this year.

My dad passed in October several years ago and I put our tree up a couple of weeks later. Just the lights...no ornaments until closer to Thanksgiving but the tree gave me a sense of calm and peace.

My kids would LOVE to have our Christmas decorations up now. However, we use a live tree every year so I don't think we would have much of a "tree" left when Christmas rolls around!

I decorated for Halloween and started over a month ago for that. I started with the Autumn stuff and then got out the Halloween stuff too. The outside is decorated too, now.

My husband and I planned on decorating the house for Christmas on Thanksgiving weekend. However, I have a feeling we may be starting earlier, lol. We were looking online for decor ideas for the house today. :)

The plan is to get the lights up outside the weekend before Thanksgiving (so we can turn them on Thanksgiving night) and the trees (2 of them - a 9' in our formal LR and a 6.5 in our family room) will go up Thanksgiving week either right before Thanksgiving or the day after (most likely). We are going to WDW with family the week before Thanksgiving so I'm not sure I can physically get the trees accomplished before Thanksgiving.

Um no! Don't put decorations up till after Thanksgiving. Probably not till December 1st. And I don't think I want to bother much with a tree this year. We are so busy when the holidays come and just don't feel much like putting one up.

I don't put my outdoor or dining room decorations up until after Thanksgiving... and that means we can't compete in the town's decorating contest because the judging is before I'll be decorating. Not that we would anyway - we aren't the Griswolds, we just put up some cedar roping and a few lights - but I found it odd that registration for the competition started before Halloween this year with judging the weekend before Thanksgiving.

The main tree goes up even later; we usually cut it the first or second weekend of Dec, depending on the weather.

No way!!! The tote of Halloween decorations was only dug out this past weekend and most of them are still not on display yet.

Xmas decor usually starts going up around a week into December and lasts until at least New Year's Day or the weekend after.

The drawing of the pilgrim family chasing away Santa and his friends is one of my favorites.

Not us, but our neighbors have two xmas trees already set up in their house and lit up at night. I don't get it. :confused3

A pp just reminded me of something. One year, my father left our outside Christmas lights up passed Christmas. He refused to take them down until my cousin was back home safe and sound from Dessert Storm which wasn't until that summer.

Not yet. We started pulling out the decorations for outside to see what still worked what didn't. We will start putting them up the first nice weekend in November so we aren't putting them up in the freezing cold. Won't turn anything on until after thanksgiving though.

We just moved into a new house last week and I'm not sure I want to put any decorations up yet! I'm still enjoying looking at my new house
I know my kids will want them up so I'll probably send my husband out in the next few weeks to "string the lights"
