Ive always wondered why VMK allows taken or puts up with it. I myself dont understand how you can be "taken" with someone on VMK(who could be a completely wrong sex/age then who you think they are) let alone online in general and tend to frown on that sort of thing. Its mostly the girls who are doing the taken thing(from what I can see) and out of personal experience girls tend to want to be dating throughout the earlier years of life alot more than the boys do. So the little kids do the taken thing, which is kind of understandable but kind of wrong in its own little way, I know my uncle who plays is older than 30 and Im 16 and weve both been asked about taken in VMK alot , we kindly refuse the offer and say we dont do taken, I hope some of the girls realize that they may be asking people 10- even 40 years older than them and dont contact anyone there "taken" by on Disboards or other fan sites. If they let out the wrong information on there they could be seriously hurt and if we had something go wrong invloving VMK , Disney would shut it down immediatly gaurenteed.


Its still funny too me as how vmk allows taken but doesnt allow cross dressing(still wanting a Tiara but atleast i have one on my girl mule)

My little brother just tells girls that he is already taken, one time he panicked when someone asked by who and he named my little sister's VMK name . Needless to say she has to put up with alot of girls who think my brother is cute, telling her to ''duck off'' and all that sort of rude language when she comes to his room to talk or trade.

As for me I was taken only once when I was a newbie, and I just got tired of it and I started to realize it was plain ridiculous; I'm glad my siblings came to that conclusion on their own and I didn't have to lecture them . Just yesterday a boy asked me to trade, and once in the trade he asked if I had a boy; I responded with the same response I always do: ''I'm not taken, and I'm not looking to be, sorry.'' It usually works well for me

A little harsh starz, I'd say the majority of VMK players who do ''taken'' are younger than 10 years old and don't realize just how many adults actually play VMK. However if it were someone who is aware of that, or spends their days trying to hook up with a girl on VMK who is at least 20 years younger than them; I would say, yeah they would be more than a bit of a square

Heh, a few months ago, I was in Storybookland wearing Sora clothes because KH2 had just came out (I love that game!) and I had two girls fighting over me.

LOL I would say this in the beginning, always being asked in a trade window (being new I was excited someone wanted to trade their wonderful rare things to me for...a Tshirt and they go and ruin it with THAT question!). I sometimes added "and I have tree kids". Once the guy said "OK" after that...pause..."I'll follow you" He wanted to be another one of my kids! I just closed the window and left the room.

I stopped because I was worried someone would report me and I'd get banned for giving too much info.

I've been taken semiconstantly since Beta, with the yeti, dragon and mansion trees respectively. While our relationships are platonic (and jocular) I really think they add another dimension to the game.

Some funny stuff in this thread, and I too joke about the taken thing in and out of game.. however..

I feel I need to inject a harsh dose of reality here. People who prey on kids for very bad reasons hang out in games where kids are. They watch and they learn, and they know how to make a child believe they are talking to another child, thus establishing trust. The trust can lead to carelessness in divulging personal information. "Taken" can be a part of that process. I'm really very surprised that VMK is as free as they are with this practice, but they apparently monitor things closely, or so I want to believe anyway. I'm not trying to scare or sound negative here, but as I was reading the comments about the different ages we all are here, it just struck me. How many people are "playing" kids in the game and they aren't? I hope its not many, but reality tells me, there are proabably a few, so please, please be careful!!

I dont want people thinking you are easy boomer. So i guess i should explain the reasons for so many relationships. The Yeti gave her the "cold" shoulder, She had to "scale" things back with the dragon because they got too "hot". ANd the Mansion Trees just "board" her. I hope things work out with the mouse. He is a very "squeaky" clean guy >

I agree with a couple of other posters that I wouldn't be haste in assuming that all taken participants are kids. You honestly never know. Of course vmk is so strict with their dictionary and discussion that I can't imagine a deviant getting too far with that business, but just the idea of them getting their rocks off on it is creepy. So I say kiddies should stay away from taken.

I too have tried to tell people I am "older than you think" and that I have kids. All that got me was some "that's gross" comments, lol, and a ban warning so now I just say that I don't do taken.
